New York City police completed the night business of the building at Columbia University and arrested participants in demonstrations supporting Palestine. Officers were summoned by the university authorities.

According to the reports of the fresh York Times, police broke a window and entered the Hamilton Hall building, after which they took the demonstrators on buses. The university administration confirmed that the building was destroyed and blocked, which forced them to call the police again in 2 weeks.

According to AP, hundreds of officers in helmets and anti-riot shields arrived. Demonstrators occupied Hamilton Hall more than 12 hours earlier, and the building was moved from 30 to 40 people.

New York City mayor Eric Adams warned on Tuesday that protests for Palestine paralyze life at the university.

– Find another ways to express your postulates. This has to stop," stressed the mayor.

According to AP Adams, protests at Columbia University were initiated by external provocateurs. However, he did not supply concrete evidence to support this thesis, which was contested by the organisers and participants of the protest.

AP Agency adds that before police entered the university, fresh York police received a notification from Columbia University authorities authorising them to act.

Previously, university authorities threatened to relegate students who occupied Hamilton Hall. Protesters placed there a banner with the inscription “Hind’s Hall”, symbolically changing the name of the building in honor of a 6-year-old Palestinian kid killed by Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip.

Protests at Columbia University started waves of demonstrations in the US – from California to Massachusetts.
