In fresh weeks, Polish border services and police have noted further detentions of alleged "war refugees" from Ukraine suspected of participating in the illegal transport of foreigners and organizing their illegal immigration into Poland. These actions are part of a wider trend in which foreigners, most frequently from outside the EU, are utilized as couriers and intermediaries to decision migrants across borders, frequently for advanced wages.
New detentions of Ukrainian migrant smugglers. On 25 February, in the area of Grajewa (Podlaskie province) border guards in Rutka-Tartak together with police detained a 35-year-old Ukrainian citizen who carried 3 foreigners – citizens of Ethiopia, Somalia and Mali – who had previously illegally crossed the Polish-Lithuanian border. The refugees did not have papers entitling them to legally reside in Poland or to cross the border.

This case is another of a series of events in fresh months in which Ukrainian citizens appear as drivers transporting migrants from the territory of Lithuania or another Central European countries towards the EU's depth.
