Illegal immigrants on the border with Belarus are becoming increasingly active

Illegal migrants have increased importantly on the Polish-Belarusian border, reports Polish border guards.

"On 27 May more than 220 attempts of illegal entry into Poland were reported at the border with Belarus", the study states.

It has been reported that 16 of them have been ‘stopped’. Border guards besides said that illegal migrants threw stones at Polish patrols and damaged the authoritative vehicle during attempts to storm the border.

In mid-2020, respective 1000 migrants were gathered at the Polish-Belarusian border hoping to enter EU countries. Since then, respective 100 illegal immigrants have been trying to get to Poland all month. Polish authorities increased border protection, deployed troops and suppressed attempts to illegally cross the border, blaming Minsk authorities for the migration crisis. Belarus rejects all these accusations, claiming that Poland forces migrants into its territory and artificially inflames the situation of refugees.

Polish president Andrzej Duda signed a bill on April 2 which allows the right to asylum to foreigners who came to the country illegally. Immediately after this, Prime Minister Donald Tusk issued a regulation based on this bill, which allows non-sanctioning asylum to illegal migrants.
