Since 1 January 2025 in Polish stores a fresh bailout strategy will apply, which will introduce additional fees for beverage packaging. Trade networks specified as Ladybug and Lidl are already preparing to implement this solution. What does it mean for consumers and what changes will be made? These are the most crucial details.
New Fee in Polish Stores
Since the beginning of 2025, a bailout strategy will be introduced in shops over 200 square meters, specified as Ladybug and Lidl. This means that erstwhile we buy any beverages and liquid products we will gotta pay an additional fee, which can be recovered later by returning the packaging.
What's the cost?
The fresh charges will be:
- 50 cents for disposable plastic bottles up to 3 litres.
- 50 cents for cans up to 1 litre.
- 1 gold for multiple glass bottles up to 1.5 liters.
These fees will be added to the acquisition costs, and erstwhile the package is returned, the amount can be recovered in the form of a refund.
Why is the bail strategy introduced?
The intent of the bailout system is above all:

Trade networks specified as Ladybug and Lidl are already investigating bail solutions:
- Lidl began investigating automatic collection points as early as 2022. In December 2023 the network boasted of its first achievements.
- Ladybug implemented recyclomatas in 2023, allowing return of utilized packaging. The erstwhile tests included tiny fees, which were nevertheless not included in the acquisition price. This will change from the beginning of 2025 erstwhile fresh charges come into force.
