The territory Attorney's Office in Ostrołęka is investigating Monica S., the chief accountant of the Pułtusek territory Court. Women have been accused of crimes of overshooting duties and fraud to the detriment of the Pułtusk territory Court. The detention took place on 18 June by police officers.
Conditions of detention
Monika S. was detained in connection with suspicion of committing a crime against the Treasury. A spokesperson for the Ostrołęka territory Prosecutor's Office, Elżbieta Edyta Łukasiewicz, explains that the female for 11 months, from August 2023 to June 18, 2024, misled the manager of the Pułtusek territory Court and made unjustified bank transfers to a 3rd party. It was established that the full amount of these transfers was PLN 35 thousand.
Details of the crime
Monika S. operated from August 2023 to 18 June 2024. At the time, she deceived the manager of the General Court as to the circumstances underlying the execution of bank transfers to participants in judicial proceedings. As a consequence of its actions, the manager of the General Court approved unjustified bank transfers.
Legal basis for the detention
Prosecutor of Ostrołęka, Elżbieta Edyta Łukasiewicz, informs that Monika S. was detained in connection with a suspected crime, i.e. Article 244 §1 of the Public Prosecutor's Office. According to that provision, ‘Police have the right to detain a fishy if there is simply a reasonable suspicion that she has committed a crime and there is simply a fear of escaping or hiding that individual or of concealing any traces of the crime, or if there is no recognition of the suspect, or if there are grounds for proceeding in an accelerated manner against that person’.
Further investigation
At this phase of the procedure, there are no arrangements for the participation of others in this process. The Ombudsman of the Ostrołęka territory Prosecutor's Office underlines that the investigation is ongoing and further steps will be taken to clarify all the circumstances of the case.
Employer's response
On the day of the arrest by police officers, the manager of the Pułtusek territory Court, pursuant to Article 12b(1)(2) of the Law on the Workers of the Courts and the Prosecutor's Office, suspended Monika S. in his duties. The following day, on June 19, 2024, he dissolved the employment relation with her without a period of announcement due to the employee's fault, the alleged disciplinary dismissal.

The territory Prosecutor's Office in Ostrołęka shall take all essential steps to clarify the circumstances of the case in item and establish the possible engagement of another persons in the crime.
