Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, since 2023, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy in Donald Tusk's 3rd government and since 2024 Vice-President Poland 2050, has not hidden her commitment to defending democratic values.
In a conversation on the ZET radio, she definitely cut herself off from Roman Giertych's proposition and assured that she was ready to tell the truth, even if it cost her a "table".
"I have already said that I do not slapping Mr. Gierty's posts, so I can put as delicately as I can, for me it is democracy, for me it is value."
She stressed that Poland 2050 entered politics as a fresh formation primarily to defend and build democracy.
“If it is going to cost me a stool to tell the truth, I don’t care, I’ll tell the truth,” declared the minister.
In the conversation there was besides a question about the results of the election. Pełczyńska-Nałęcz referred to the waves of criticism that appeared on Twitter under the slogan #SilniTogether, and recalled available statistics:
"If the Strong Together throw themselves at me on Twitter, I don't care due to the fact that I say, like the facts are and all vote must be respected, it is without question, but all the reliable statistic of truly electoral experts, available on the Internet, published, show that there is no present and nothing indicates that there could be a different result."
The minister, referring to detailed analyses, calculated, among others, that in more than 130 circuits there were less votes for 1 candidate in the second circular than in the first round, and the difference in the order of 370 1000 votes on a national scale excludes the anticipation of "an attack on the will of voters". She besides stressed that any irregularity should be clarified, but besides pointed out that the electoral procedures – with the signatures of each associate of the committee – warrant the validity of the results.
Her position is clear: as a sociologist and politician, she stands watch over transparency and respect for the voice of citizens. Regardless of the force from opposition groups on social platforms or public controversy, Pełczyńska-Nałęcz does not intend to stay silent. She claims that stableness of democratic institutions and assurance in the electoral strategy are the most crucial for her and for Poland 2050.
