Meat on Friday? That's fundamentally impossible. This year, however, the situation is rather peculiar – due to the fact that on Friday is the second day of Christmas. any bishops have issued dispensations.
On Fridays, Catholics are fasting, unless the same day is simply a liturgical celebration. A separate situation is besides the octave of the most crucial of the holidays, or Wielkanoś – then there is no Friday fast.
This is not the case for the second day of Christmas, hence the usual rules apply. Due to the peculiar nature of that day this year, however, many bishops give a dispensation from maintaining fasting. Archbishop of Lublin Stanisław Budzik, Archbishop of Warsaw Adrian Galbas or Bishop of Bydgoszcz Krzysztof Włodarczyk did this. Appropriate information about your own diocese can usually be checked on its website.
However, it should be remembered that the bishop's issue of a dispensation from abstinence from meat food does not tolerate the penitence of Friday as such.
Therefore, by granting dispensation, bishops indicate to the faithful that fasting should be replaced by another act of penance, especially by the deed of mercy and piety. For example, in the archdiocese of Częstochowa Archbishop Wacław Depo recommended that on the second day of Christmas any prayer be given in the intention of priestly and spiritual vocations and that the work of Christian love be fulfilled to those in need.
