Mentzen: I'm not curious in Ukraine's interests

Today is 1,000 days since Russia's attack on Ukraine. Thanks to the large dedication and determination of the Ukrainian people and the aid of the West, including the fast assistance of Poland, Ukraine saved independence, defended Kiev, retained access to the sea.

Unfortunately, Ukrainian economy and infrastructure are ruined. The biggest problem is people. Ukraine has a increasing problem with deficiency of soldiers. There's no 1 to fight. Ukraine's recovery of Crimea or Donbas in this situation seems to be a complete dream. Unfortunately, time plays in favour of Russia, which has dealt with sanctions, sells its natural materials to Asia, switched to a war economy and slowly, but consistently, occupies further Ukrainian areas. Whether Ukraine should search a truce in this situation, I leave it to the Ukrainians. If they want to fight for their country, they have a right to.

More crucial to me is what Poland should do with this. Ukrainians have been trying to drag Poland and another countries into the war from the beginning, not due to the fact that it is large fun and want to share this happiness with us, just due to the fact that it is in their interest to get the top aid and extend the war to another countries. It is in our interest to keep independent Ukraine and not participate actively in this war. From the Polish point of view, it is much more crucial that no bombs should fall on our cities, that Poles should not lose their homes and lives, and Polish soldiers should not die far in the east, than whether Crimea and Donbas are Russian or Ukrainian.

Poles should be curious in freezing this conflict. If the West wants to keep Ukraine alive, sooner or later there will be a request to send soldiers there. And then who's gonna be pressured? Will Germany, French and Italians want to die for Kiev? Not at all. There is simply a reason why no 1 but Poles is on fire to attack Russia. The war on the atomic power is simply not the safest occupation. They will tell us: it is in your interest that Ukraine has fought for so many years. You've said it yourself many times, so send soldiers there, defend yourselves! If a surviving force is needed to proceed the war, and the U.S. will want to proceed this war with individual else's hands, then it will be Polish hands. There are no others.

Therefore, contrary to media propaganda, Trump's quest to end the war is good news for us. If Trump had managed to frost the war effort on the current frontline, while giving up Ukraine's accession to NATO, it would have been his large success. You can't enter NATO with irregular boundaries. Ukraine in NATO is simply a dream. No 1 will accept Ukraine there, due to the fact that no average one, but any Polish politicians, burns to war with Russia.

Thus, the truce to keep Ukraine outside NATO is not a bow to Russia and a confirmation of the facts. Thanks to the truce, people will cease to die, Ukraine will be able to begin rebuilding, and Poland will gain plenty of time to build a strong army. The continuation of the war means further casualties, the failure of further areas and the hazard of sending Polish soldiers to Ukraine, which may end in extending the conflict to Poland. The choice is obvious. Another 1,000 days of war won't do any good. People will die, cities will be destroyed, the hazard of war expanding will increase.

It is possible that this would be in the interest of Ukraine, but it would surely not be beneficial for us. I'm not curious in Ukrainian interests at all.. Polish politicians should primarily care about Polish interests! And it is in our interest to end this war.
