Sławomir Mentzen published a video mocking recently accepted police officers, and a wave of criticism broke out on October 1. 150 people were admitted to the Lower Silesian garrison: 65 women and 85 men. The politician raised the real safety issue, but the selection of the women's photographs themselves turned the serious subject into a missed mockery and hit people willing to service the state.

A mockery alternatively of a serious conversation

Sławomir Mentzen published a movie on social media utilizing photographs of women admitted to the Lower Silesian Police. He was ironic that after specified a recruitment, Georgian gangs and Ukrainian veterans were to tremble with fear and organized crime would not rise. The problem is, from the full image of the recruitment he chose only the police.

It's a bad catch. The question of police's ability to fight violent crime is justified, as is Mentzen's questions about state readiness in another safety areas. However, the state control of the institution must not be replaced by a mockery based on the presumption that a female in uniform is by definition unfit for service.

150 people, not only women

Official data contradicts the image from the video. Lower Silesian Police gaveThat on 16 September 2026 she accepted 150 officers: 65 women and 85 men. As many as 135 people after training are to go to municipal and region commands. Throughout 2026 the ranks of the formation in Lower Silesia were 551 people.

New officers do not decision from ceremony to the most hard intervention. They will have about six months of basic training, including law, tactics, intervention techniques and field practice. Only the results of recruitment, training and later service let to measure who actually meets the uniform requirements.

Criticism came from different directions

The video was met with acute reactions. MP Paulina Matysiak asked Mentzen if he had always seen a police officer in uniform. Monika Pawłowska accused him of sexism and selective selection of photographs. However, writer Agnieszka Gozdyr recalled a situation in which a police officer successfully intervened against 1 of the current Confederate MPs.

Some of the answers besides came down to the level of individual adversities to the appearance and stature of politics. That doesn't mean anything either. The state power debate doesn't get smarter just due to the fact that 1 mockery meets another.

The right hand must be able to require

The right has a work to look hard at the institutions' hands. Poles request the Police to respond to force regardless of the origin of the perpetrator. Standards should be realistic, transparent and linked to tasks. They must apply to all candidate.

That is why sex cannot replace competence assessment. There are tasks that require quite a few physical strength, and there are those in which control, perceptiveness, cognition of procedure, or ability to talk to the victim decide. The suitability for service is determined by preparation for a peculiar task, not a photograph selected for a political film.

The Confederacy present has a chance to pass the State work Examination. However, it will neglect if serious safety questions are covered by inexpensive provocation. The aspiring formation to regulation should supply data on vacancyes, training, equipment and efficiency of services, and then propose repairs.

Uniform obliges, service deserves respect

The police officer is to defend the citizen and the order of the Republic, sometimes with the hazard of wellness and life. Each officer must be strictly accounted for in preparation, integrity and action. To anyone who meets the requirements and takes up this service, there should besides be simple respect.

Policy and online coverage are not at stake. The safety of Poles and trust in the state are at stake. Mentzen touched on a real subject, but did so in a way that diverted attention from the point. Poland needs a good police force. Requirements, training and work lead to its construction, not mocking women in uniform.
