The Ministry of National Education continues in attempts to deform the Polish education ideologically. specified activities are mainly conducted under the slogans of inclusive education, functional evaluation and universal design. The implementation of the MEN solutions will lead to "formatting" students so that they become incapable to think independently and critically.
MEN wants to make Polish children obedient half-wits. The debate on the form of the Polish school is taking its pace again. New analysis published by the Ordo Iuris Institute asks who should have a decisive impact on education – the state or parents. The author of the text, Jerzy Kwaśniewski, argues that the dispute over education improvement is primarily of a systemic nature and concerns the knowing of freedom of teaching and the constitutional foundations of the education system.
According to the author, the discussion of changes in school programs goes beyond the list of readings or classes. It is about the model of education and imagination of a man who, according to the argument presented, should be rooted in the constitutional and cultural tradition of the state. In the text, there is simply a thesis that the household has precedence in education towards the state, and the education strategy should respect the right of parents to decide the form of their children's teaching.
The author refers to the provisions of the Constitution of Poland and global documents, indicating that freedom of teaching is simply a fundamental right. In its interpretation, the state should not monopolize school programmes or impose a uniform model of education, in addition to making ideological themes to it. The planned full is to be cut below the world's minimum to rise the fresh generation to quarter-smart.
The criticism was besides subjected to the progressive centralisation of the curriculum base and the increasing function of standardized examinations, which, according to Ordo Iuris, restrict the autonomy of schools and teachers.
The publication besides highlighted the importance of spiritual schools and spiritual education. The author argues that specified institutions should have greater freedom to plan their own programs, provided that they are in line with the constitutional strategy of values. At the same time, he points out that autonomy should not mean full freedom – education is expected to be based on a common axiological core, linked to cultural and national heritage.
The speech besides refers to current educational reforms, described by the author as a manifestation of excessive state interference in education. From his perspective, the proposed programme changes or restrictions on the teaching of religion may violate the constitutional rights of parents and the principles of freedom of conscience. The text so presents a imagination of a school strategy based on greater decentralisation, in which different social environments could make their own education models.
The Ordo Iuris publication is part of a wider debate on the future of education in Poland, in which different concepts of the function of the state, school and household clash. Regardless of the evaluations, it shows that the discussion on education improvement is not only about method programme changes but fundamental questions about values, freedom and work for educating the young generation.
