However, not many realize that setting up even a tiny water reservoir on the Rod is subject to strict regulations. Their ignoring can lead to very serious consequences, including a demolition order at their own expense, and in utmost cases even losing the right to usage the land. For many families it becomes an investment in intellectual and physical health, as well as an excellent tool for environmental education of the youngest generations. The regulations of the NAD clearly specify which water reservoirs are acceptable at the ROD, so as not to violate safety rules and pose problems for neighbours. Fortunately, the rules do not introduce a complete ban, but impose circumstantial limits.
In accordance with the applicable guidelines, a swimming pool, paddling pool or pond may be legally placed on the ROD game provided that it meets the following criteria:
- Maximum surface area: The full surface of the water mirror shall not exceed 15 square meters.
- Maximum depth: The depth of the tank shall not exceed 1 metre.
- Location: The swimming pool must be located in the recreational part of the plot, with minimum distance 2 meters from the border with the adjacent plot. This is aimed at preventing possible water leaks and minimising noise.
In practice this means that primarily popular portable pools are legal – inflatable, frame or supportswhich are within the limits specified. The construction of larger, permanent structures poured from concrete or profoundly dug into the ground is treated as a building will and constitutes a gross violation of the regulations.
The pernicious consequences of self-will. What are the chances of breaking the rules?
Ignore the rules on the size and location of the swimming pool can prove very costly. The Boards of the Rods are required to respond to any case of construction self-sustaining, and the procedure in specified cases is clearly defined. A gardener who places a swimming pool in his area that does not comply with the rules must face multi-stage consequences.
The first step on the part of the board of ROD is usually written reminder. The owner of the game shall receive an authoritative letter calling for the tank to comply with the applicable requirements or its full removal within the prescribed time limit. If the plotter ignores this call, the board can take more decisive steps. The next step is the release order for the removal of illegal construction at its own expense. Failure to comply with this decision may consequence in further sanctions.
In utmost and most persistent cases, erstwhile the game is grossly and notoriously breaking the rules, the board has the right to adopt a resolution on termination of the land lease agreement.
