MUNICH – Lufthansa (LH) has announced the extension of its Airbus A380 service on the Munich-Bangkok route, amid the high travel demand during Thailand’s Songkran Festival. Initially scheduled to operate for a limited period, the A380 service will now continue until April 25, 2025, offering travelers a more spacious and luxurious flying experience.

The German flag carrier’s decision highlights its commitment to offer premium service on this long-haul route, meeting the growing needs of both business and leisure travelers.

Lufthansa has been operating regular flights to Thailand for 65 years, reinforcing strong ties between Thailand and Germany.

A380 Deployment for the Songkran Holiday Rush

Songkran, Thailand’s New Year festival, attracts millions of domestic and international travelers each year. Recognizing the increased demand, the German carrier extended the A380 service to accommodate more passengers during this peak season.

“The A380 offers unparalleled comfort and capacity, and we are confident that our passengers will appreciate the extra space and top-tier service as they travel during the busy Thai New Year period,” said Felipe Bonifatti, Vice President of Asia Pacific & Joint Ventures East.

Lufthansa currently operates up to 31 weekly flights between Thailand and Germany, ensuring seamless connectivity for travelers.

Lufthansa Expands A380 Network with First-Ever Denver Flight

In another milestone, Lufthansa is set to introduce the Airbus A380 to Denver International Airport (DEN) for the first time. Starting April 30, 2025, the airline will launch daily flights between Munich (MUC) and Denver, marking Denver as the sixth destination in Lufthansa’s A380 network.

The flight, operating under flight number LH480, will depart Munich at 11:15 AM and land in Denver at 1:45 PM local time. The return flight will leave Denver at 4:15 PM, arriving in Munich the next morning at 10:50 AM.

According to Heiko Reitz, Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Airlines, “The Airbus A380 service to Denver is not only a first for Lufthansa but also for the airport itself. Passengers, airport visitors, and crews love the A380 for its unique flying experience and spacious interiors.”

Lufthansa’s A380 configuration features:

  • 8 First Class seats
  • 78 Business Class seats
  • 52 Premium Economy seats
  • 371 Economy Class seats

With eight Airbus A380s operating from Munich in the summer of 2025, Lufthansa continues to solidify its presence in the U.S. market while enhancing global connectivity.
