Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass announced the introduction of a curfew in any areas of the city centre, writing about it on the social networking site X.
“I introduced a curfew from 8:00 p.m. this evening in downtown Los Angeles to prevent bad people from utilizing the chaotic escalation of the President’s actions, ” Bass said in a statement.
The mayor appealed to the Los Angeles residents to avoid the city centre, informing that those violating the ban would be detained and held to penalty.
The curfew may be extended for further days. The decision was made against the background of 23 urban businesses that were damaged by vandals during the riots yesterday, said Bass at a press conference.
The work for breaking the rules is exempt from, among others, accredited press representatives and homeless people who live mainly in the busy business center of the city in Los Angeles.
