The effort to unveil the plaque devoted to Rose Luxembourg in Zamość sparked a loud debate about commemorating Polish enemies. Eventually, the board will not be mounted on a tenement home at 37 Staszica Street. According to the town hall, the reason was the deficiency of consent of the monument conservationist and the ongoing renovation work on the Zamość Old Town included in the UNESCO list. Interestingly, different people appeared in the defence of the memorial.

The leader of “Polish Thoughts” flirts with the judaic people about Rose Luxembourg. First, however, it is worth recalling the issue of the celebrated supporter of the planet revolution. During the conference entitled “Freedom is always freedom for those who think differently”, organised in Zamość, the city authorities revealed that they intend to commemorate it with a peculiar plaque, which had already been dismantled at the request of the IPN. The fresh initiative has sparked opposition from political and historical communities.

The Institute of National Memory warned that the restoration of the plaque may be contrary to the ban on promoting communism in the public space in force in Poland. In the opinion of the IPN, Luxembourg was a communist activist and an open opponent of Polish independence.

In turn, the Zamość authorities argued that the plaque would only have an informational character, recalling the fact that Luxembourg was born in that city in 1871. president Zamość Rafał Zwolak stressed that for many abroad tourists the city is an crucial place precisely due to its biography and this does not mean promoting any ideology.

The dispute over the plaque rapidly went beyond the local context and became part of a wider discussion about historical memory in Poland. Left-wing historian Stanislaw Żerko criticized the position of the IPN, suggesting that this institution behaved like a "historical police": "I feel very sorry for president Zamość. His arguments were reasonable, as was his spokesman. In a clash with the historical police with the IPN, a pack of right-wing savages and a bunch of morons, however, have no chance.”wrote on X.

"Unfortunately, these various statements of IPN are a form of imposing a right-wing version of past on people. I'll stand against it, but what can I do? Fortunately, people don't usually care about these statements.“ — added in another entry.

Declarative enemies of the judaic komuna, including the publicists associated with the “Think Poland” magazine, besides joined the polemic. "And here I agree with Prof. Żerko – this hucpa around Rose Luxembourg is embarrassing. I am far from fond of this character, but it is simply a historical figure, known all over the world. erstwhile I worked at the Museum of the 10th Pavilion, tourists from abroad associated only 2 prisoners – Feliks Dzierżyński and Róża Luxemburg (in the Museum there are signs at the cells where they sat). The hysteria of the IPN is another proof of the harmfulness of this institution” – wrote on Facebook Jan Engelgard.

Entries of this kind met with a sharp reaction of any commentators who accused authors of relativizing the harmful function of communist activists in the past of Central and east Europe. By the way, it is very interesting that the "Polish Thoughts" environment, which so far was known from sentiment alternatively to chamocomuna, began to defend the memory of the most celebrated judaic communist. The reason for this is, of course, impossible to determine, but Engelgard's message is in clear contradiction with his declared environment, attachment to the patriotic thought and independency of Poland.

The Plate of Rose Luxembourg – at least for now – will not return to the building wall at Staszica Street and that is very good news. It delights twice erstwhile we hear the quiky of public and hidden enemies of Poland.
