On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, dramatic events occurred during the session of the Warsaw Council. The City defender forcefully blocked the entry of representatives of tenant movements who wanted to participate in the discussion about controversial sale of the municipal building at 66 Marszałkowska Street. Residents study that the gathering area was filled by officials and PO activists, preventing them from participating in the debate.
“Let me go!” – Municipal defender blocks residents
As reported by the association “The City Is Ours‘, persons representing the interests of the tenants were not allowed into the gathering room.
"PO activists were admitted to the gathering area alternatively of residents, 45 minutes before the session began. They're blocking all places. And the regular residents of the City defender are blocking the entrance. WSTYD!” – reads in their statement.
Activists accuse the Civic Platform of hypocrisy:
"The Civic Platform, which has democracy on the banners, does not truly care. alternatively of honestly discussing the sale of the building at Marszałkowska 66, PO councillors immediately voted to break up the meeting. There was no discussion”.

Pushes and escapes of the President
On social media there were recordings showing a conflict between the City defender and residents. At any point the city council president, Ewa Malinowska-Grupińska (PO), she left the hall, which sparked further controversy.
"Is this how Rafał Trzaskowski should work with residents?" – asks the Warsaw branch of PiS in its entry on X.

Kaleta: “The tenants kissed the doorknob”
PiS associate Sebastian Kaleta commented on the hot situation:
"In fresh days, there has been an eviction of a household with a six-year-old child. This shows that we are facing a major housing crisis in Warsaw, for which Rafał Trzaskowski is responsible. We're not expecting him in session present due to the fact that he's not coming to the City Council session, but what's more, we're offended by what we just watched. Namely, the locality movements that are fighting for the rights to municipal premises of the poorest and weakest inhabitants of Warsaw came here, and they will kiss the doorknob. Reinforced city defender forces due to the fact that who are they afraid of? The tenants who fight for a roof over their head and these people have not been allowed into the gym. Why? due to the fact that Citizens' Platform Councillors with their colleagues took all the seats so that those who are truly curious had no place to sit”.
