The 2025 presidential election formally went into past as 1 of the most dramatic in Poland. After fierce rivalry and amazing twists, the fresh president was Karol Nawrocki, defeating Rafał Trzaskowski with a minimal difference of vote. The results sparked a storm among politicians, and the erstwhile president Lech Wałęsa, who demanded "cleaning" in his emotional Facebook entry, was peculiarly acute.

Elections full of returns

The State Election Commission gave the final results after all votes had been calculated. Karol Nawrocki, a candidate supported by the Law and Justice, won 50.89% (10 606 628 votes), while Rafał Trzaskowski from the Civic Coalition obtained 49.11% (10 237 177 votes). Turnout was 71.63%, which shows the large commitment of Poles.

The first exit poll pointed to Trzaskowski's triumph (50.3% vs 49.7%), nevertheless later the late poll studies reversed the forecasts. As of 11:00 p.m. Nawrocki maintained a increasing advantage, which yet confirmed authoritative results.

Where did the candidates win?

  • Karol Nawrocki dominated in voivodships:
  • Podkarpackie — 71%
  • Lublin — 66.54%
  • Świętokrzyskie – 63.6%
  • Rafał Trzaskowski He won in:
  • Pomeranian — 59.13%
  • West Pomeranian – 58%
  • Lower Silesian – 53.81%

Wałęsa powerfully comments: “Hail justified!”

Former president Lech Wałęsa did not hold outrage. In a strong Facebook entry, he wrote:
“Disgrace justified! After cutting off the head of the Nation in Katyn, after a period of communism, after Kwasniewski, who applied ruse effectively in the run campaign, breaking agreements, lies, manipulations – a continuation in the performance of Nawrocki!”

Walęsa besides appealed to the ruling coalition:
“The ruling coalition! Time for male cleansing action!”

His words sparked a heated debate in the media and among political commentators.

What about the Polish political scene?

The election results show a deep division in Polish society. The minimum difference in vote suggests that the political conflict will proceed and the fresh president will face the challenge of unifying the country.

Will the Wałęsa entry start a fresh wave of protests? Will the rulers take “cleaning action”? These questions stay unanswered for now.
