Kraków: Police stopped Ukrainians who kicked an 11-year-old in the head

The Krakow police captured a man who kicked an 11-year-old boy in the head at 1 of the playgrounds in the Red Current area. He is simply a 37-year-old Ukrainian citizen who, according to preliminary findings, has lived in Krakow for respective years.

The event occurred on June 17th after 6:30 p.m. An on-call officer of the Municipal Police office in Krakow received a study of an aggressive man on the playground. At the scene, officers found the injured father, who reported that a minute earlier his boy had been kicked in the head for no reason by an unknown perpetrator. The 11-year-old passed out and was immediately transported by an ambulance to 1 of the Kraków hospitals where he was given medical assistance.

Officers rapidly identified the perpetrator of the incident. An aggressive Ukrainian was identified and detained. The man explained that the outbreak of aggression was caused by an earlier push of his boy by an 11-year-old, but this reaction is not justified in Polish law.

The following day, criminal proceedings were opened against the detainee – he heard the charge of exposing another individual to a direct hazard of failure of life or serious injury to health. According to the penal code, he is facing imprisonment for up to 5 years.

The prosecution has taken a preventive measurement against him in the form of police supervision and a ban on approaching and contacting the victim and witnesses to the event. The case is pending; investigators analyse the circumstances of the attack and question witnesses.
