Saying finlandization – we know what this is about. Starting with the Arctic Circle, and in the Mediterranean, many dreamed of it, but fewer achieved this status.
It was naturally Finland itself, 1 of the countries that lost planet War II. Stalin, however, knew geopolitical necessity and preferred to neutralise Helsinki. present you forget about it. A decade later, this goal was achieved by Vienna. It was hoped that the Kremlin, in its generous graciousness, might accept it under certain circumstances.
However, it was forgotten that the road to East Germany led through Poland. And possibly this would have been possible if 2 German states had already been united, with the withdrawal of all abroad troops and their finlandisation. The Russians had specified ideas, but they primarily meant that Washington was getting a velvet kick due to the fact that Europe would no longer be needed. Then this and only then the thought of neutralizing Warsaw could be in the game. But this never happened, and what is more: in those circumstances it was an idealized utopia. After another fewer decades of tv production, called the overthrow of the Berlin Wall, began a fewer years of Russia's withdrawal from Central Europe and later the dissolution of the russian Union. The West declared itself the winner of the Cold War, starting the process of absorbing all these countries by expanding the European Union, especially NATO. In this case, there was no sober thought or moderation. The voices of those who called for reason were besides ignored.
Richard Pipes, a well-known “russor” in an interview given in the early 1990s, appealed not to remove Russian influence even from Poland, because, as he estimated, we will gotta give it back in the future. Even Sweden and Finland themselves have now been annexed, but not as part of Nat's triumphalism, but as a defensive step against the alleged threat of Kremal aggression. However, the situation on the geopolitical map of Eurasia is far different from that of 30 years ago. Moscow showed a red line and threatened not to let it to cross.
This is about American attempts to vassalize Ukraine, and then surely Belarus. Russia, acting in principle, as part of the essential defense, started a war in Ukraine – not to be confused with the war with Ukraine – which is naturally besides going on, but on the margins of the erstwhile and as a side effect. The word finlandization returns to favour free again. The neutralization of Kiev with Russia's preservation of its territorial conquests full satisfies Russian expectations of building a safe region around its country.
