Current RTV subscription rules
Under the applicable law, radio and tv receivers are obliged to registry them and to pay the subscription regularly. In 2025 the rates are 8.70 PLN per period for radio receiver and 27.30 PLN per period for a tv or radio-television set .
Who's exempt from charges?
There is simply a group of persons entitled to exemption from the work to pay a RTV subscription. This group includes:
- Persons over 75 years of age – the exemption is automatically based on data from the PESEL registry .
- Persons with a disability to a degree of considerable or full incapacity for work, a applicable ruling is required.
- War and Military Invalids – on the basis of applicable papers confirming the status.
- Low income pensioners – in 2025 the exemption is granted to those whose pension does not exceed PLN 4090.86 gross monthly.
In order to benefit from the exemption, a declaration must be made at the Polish Post Office, providing supporting documents.
Can I de-record the receiver?
The only legal way to halt paying the RTV subscription is deregistration of the existing receiver. Just getting free of tv or radio, changing your address or going abroad do not exempt you from the work to pay your subscription.
Planned changes to the charging system
For years there have been discussions on the improvement of the public media backing system. 1 of the solutions under consideration is the introduction of audiovisual fee revenue-related tax. specified a change would aim to increase the collection of charges and guarantee unchangeable financing of public media .
