The investigation of crimes involving the killings of unestablished WP soldiers, refusing to participate in suppression of labour appearances during Poznań Czerwca’56 – said PAP Mirosław Więckowiak, territory lawyer of the Crime Investigation Commission against the Polish Nation in Poznań.

Prosecutor Więckowiak recalled that in September of this year a comprehensive investigation into crimes committed in connection with Poznań June by officials of the communist state was excluded from the separate proceedings the procedural materials concerning 1 of the threads to issue a final substantive decision.

The prosecutor pointed out that this subject afraid "criminals against humanity which are simultaneously communist crimes, consisting in Poznań and another places in the country, during the alleged Poznań Events of 28-29 June 1956, the killings of unestablished soldiers of the Polish Army, refusing to participate in suppression of labour appearances committed by unestablished officials of the communist state".

He stated that in the course of the investigation it was established that respective days after the clashes were completed on the streets of Poznań in June 1956, there were rumours among the acquaintances that in Lawica, where the authorities arranged a filter camp for the arrested, respective twelve soldiers of the Polish Army were shot who were to refuse to comply with orders to usage weapons against demonstrators.

Several witnesses have besides testified about specified a crime in the course of the investigation, who have never witnessed these events, but have only heard of alleged killings of soldiers. no of them gave their individual data. These witnesses besides indicated respective sites of alleged burial of these soldiers the prosecutor informed.

He added that exhumation and polling activities were carried out in the second half of 2006 – in Leszków close Piła (a 1945 russian and Polish military cemetery) and in Biedrusk (near forest). Similarly, archaeological works were carried out in 2024 in the erstwhile military unit at Bukowskia Street in Poznań.

This work, however, did not confirm the hypotheses – resulting, among others, from witnesses' evidence – about the location of graves previously unknown to the victims of events, and in peculiar soldiers who refused to shoot demonstrators. It has besides verified, on an ongoing basis, the information obtained during the investigation, on persons who allegedly died during (or in connection with) events, but do not officially appear on the death lists. All these cases were verified negatively said the prosecutor.

He besides stated that in most cases it active soldiers, and it was mostly revealed that they died as a consequence of random events outside Poznań, having nothing to do with Poznań events. Similarly, there is no evidence of any possible repression against soldiers who refused to comply with orders to suppress speeches or even acted on the side of demonstrators. No soldier has been prosecuted for specified conduct.

The prosecutor reported that no conclusive evidence was collected in the course of the investigation that crimes involving crimes taking place in Poznań and another places in the country during the alleged Poznań events on 28-29 June 1956 of the killings of the unset soldiers of the Polish Army, refusing to participate in suppression of labour performances. Therefore, the decision to discontinue the investigation of this crime in the absence of adequate evidence to justify the suspicion of a criminal offence.

The decision is final. The prosecutor besides stressed that this was the first trial decision concerning the events of Poznań June 1956.

Prok. Sokkowiak pointed out at the same time that in relation to the main investigation into events of Poznań June’56, the final substantive decision is planned at the end of this year.

On 28 June 1956, workers of Cegielski Plant, then Stalin Plant, took a general strike and organized a street demonstration, bloodyly suppressed by militia and military. Then, according to the investigation, 58 people lost their lives.
