Border defender officers from the Tuplice facility detained a Ukrainian citizen on July 17 who carried six illegal migrants from Afghanistan.
The detention took place in the area of the territory of Warski, just outside the border with Germany. According to borderers, the man was active in an organized illegal crossing of the border and was knowingly helping Afghans to effort to enter western Europe.
Volkswagen, who had traveled 7 people, was detained for regular roadside inspection. In the course of business activities, it shortly became apparent that passengers had no papers proving their identity or legality of residence. The driver, a Ukrainian citizen, confessed to the charges and made an explanation. As a consequence of court proceedings, he was sentenced to six months in prison on probation for 2 years. In addition, he was given a decision on the work to return and a five-year ban on entry into the Schengen area. After the administrative procedures were completed, he was transferred to the Ukrainian side at the border crossing point.
Afghan migrants he was carrying were placed in a safe facility for foreigners, where they await completion of return procedures to their country of origin. Their effort to cross the border illegally ended with detention, but the destiny of each of them will be decided individually under the current migration law.
Stopping at the border of Poland and Germany is another case, which confirms that the western section is intensively monitored by border services. Due to its location, the territory of the territory of Calvary has become 1 of the transit points utilized by human smugglers in fresh months. In many cases, people undertaking specified transport operate within the wider criminal networks, and migrants transported to Western Europe through Poland, after crossing the Balkan, Turkey or Belarus route.
The Tuplic case shows that the Polish Border defender conducts effective investigative activities, and all effort to usage the territory of Poland as a transit country is met with a reaction from the services. The case of a Ukrainian driver who has been conditionally convicted and expelled is besides of precautionary importance, showing that engagement in smuggling of people, even at the transport stage, entails criminal and administrative consequences.
In turn, migrants who are illegally residing in Poland go to the centres where they undergo verification and are prepared for return procedures. Although any of them may apply for global protection, the majority are subject to a return decision, especially if they have previously attempted to cross the border illegally and have no documents.
Against the background of a tense migration situation in Europe, Border defender operations in Tuplice are 1 of many examples of combating illegal migration and smuggling of people. Border services are inactive calling for vigilance and social cooperation, as well as recalling that organising illegal border crossing, regardless of nationality or motivation, is simply a crime and will be prosecuted with all determination.
