The Tuska Coalition wants to broadcast Polish citizenship to immigrants

Warsaw Sejm, Voices of Government Coalition rejected draft law on strengthening the principles of granting Polish citizenship. The proposal included a mandatory request to stay in Poland for at least 10 years and mandatory Polish language and past examinations.

At first reading, the Tuska Coalition rejected the draft amendment of the Polish Citizenship Act by Law and Justice, which concluded work on a proposal to tighten the conditions for obtaining Polish citizenship by foreigners. 240 Members voted against, 200 opposed, and no abstentions.

The project, submitted by the PiS MPs in October 2025, provided for an extension to 10 years of permanent residence in Poland, after which the foreigner could apply for citizenship. During this time, the individual afraid would gotta live continuously in the territory of the Republic and have a fixed origin of income. In the case of marriages of Poles with foreigners, the required period of stay was to be six years.
