Karol Nawrocki, a politician and erstwhile president of the IPN, has committed himself in writing to care for Jerzy Z. – according to the paper to which Interia reached. In a paper dated 10 August 2021, Nawrocki declared that he would finance the maintenance of an older man, and after his death he would arrange a funeral.
"Life Care" – what precisely did Nawrocki promise?
The paper states:
“I, the undersigned Karol Nawrocki, declare that I have committed myself to keeping Jerzy Z. for life, by providing him with food, clothing, an flat located in Gdańsk at ul. (...), light and fire, providing adequate assistance and care in sickness and making his own ceremony at the expense of local customs.”.
In the second part of the letter Jerzy Z. confirms:
‘I, the undersigned, Jerzy Z. declare that Karol Nawrocki fulfils the work described in point I above’.
The paper was signed by both men and was to be submitted to ‘the public authorities concerned’.
Nawrocki took the position at the IPN – how did this affect care?
Interestingly, the paper is dated on 10 August 2021, only a twelve days after Nawrocki took his oath as the president of the IPN (23 July 2021) and moved from Gdańsk to Warsaw.
In conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Rymanowski Live" Nawrocki admitted that since December 2024 he had no contact with Jerzy Ż.
‘Did I care? The strength was naturally different, depending on what duties I did. Indeed, after 2021 it was definitely smaller, because, as you know, I moved to Warsaw due to the fact that I became the president of IPN" He explained.
The politician added that he helped financially, organized buying and even bought a tv for Jerzy Zz.

In social media Jerzy Z. in 2020 he wrote:
“I receive PLN 600 from MOPR, I am disabled, I do not walk without bullets and I do not have adequate to eat. That's all”.
Earlier in 2019, he recalled:
“For 4 years I have been at home, I cannot be at my strength. I'm waiting for my hip and knee treatments. It's not easy”.
Nawrocki in a conversation with Rymanowski referred to these entries:
"I knew about it and I reacted. I was handing over funds, buying at the pharmacy. I did what I didn't gotta do, but in connection with our honor agreement, I tried to aid Mr. George as much as I could”.
Housing – what function did it play in the full case?
The controversy surrounding Nawrocki and Jerzy Z.'s relations broke out after the debate in “Super Express”, where the politician stated that he had only 1 apartment. However, it turned out that the property message contained 2 premises – the second by 2017 belonged to Jerzy Ż.
The 28-foot studio case has become 1 of the main topics of the campaign. Eventually, Nawrocki announced that he was giving the flat to charity.
Summary
The paper revealed by Interia shows that Karol Nawrocki formally committed to taking care of Jerzy Z., but after taking up his position at the IPN his engagement decreased. Jerzy Z. himself confirmed in the letter that Nawrocki fulfilled his promise, but his entries on social media suggested a hard material situation.
