The German Chancellor humiliated the head of the MFA. It's immigrants, Merz wants deportation

W Germany has a heated dispute over immigrants – and this time it is within the mainstream. Chancellor Friedrich Merz humiliated the abroad Minister from his own party.

For respective weeks now German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has been trying to impose a new, rhetorically sharper course on immigrants. He talked about the fact that visitors spoil the German urban scenery – it was about large groups of aggressive immigrants who harass women, especially at night. He now made it clear about the Syrians, by the way, against his abroad minister.

German MFA chief Johann Wadephul visited Syria a fewer days ago. He spoke of receiving Syrian refugees there. Wadephul, speaking in Damascus, stated that people in Syria have no applicable chance to live a dignified life and lamented the large destruction.

Merz went in consequence to these words to Husum in Schleswig-Holstein, the hometown of Wadephula. He stated that the Syrian civilian war had ended and so "there is no longer any reason for asylum in Germany". He added that Syrians could besides be sent back to their homeland. According to Merz, a large proportion of Syrians should leave voluntarily; others can simply be sent back. Merz invited the current Syrian president Ahmed ash-Shara to Germany and intends to discuss deportations with him.

Merza's sharper course is simply a reaction to major successes alternate to Germany in public opinion research. For respective months, AfD has been equal to or even driving it away. The popularity of the alternate is most likely related to the issue of immigrants, hence Merz begins to imitate the rhetoric of AfD. The question is whether any action will follow.
