The Lublin Court of Appeals has present deferred the conviction on Pastor Paul Chojecki, editor-in-chief of tv Go Under the Current, in his trial for words, among others for insulting Catholics' spiritual feelings. We're expected to know the verdict on June 5th at 1:00 p.m. The court did not take into account the fact that Pastor Chojecki had a scheduled evangelization abroad journey to the United States at the time. After the trial, the pastor spoke of his dream: “My dream and plan is to have a social-political movement for all people who realize freedom [...]. We want everyone [...] to be able to talk freely about their beliefs, so that they can besides criticize my views as they please. We are going for freedom!’
After the trial, Pastor Chojecki prayed with those who gathered very much to support him. Many people wore T-shirts with inscriptions expressing support for the pastor and banners about freedom. There was besides the singing and praise of God. tv Go Under the Current all the time live reporting events before the court.
Among another things, we have hosted associate Arthur Dziambor and Paweł Szramka. Both expressed support for the pastor and the belief that he should be acquitted.
"I hope Pastor Chojecki is acquitted. I promise that I will strive for an article on the image of spiritual feelings [art. 196 kk] and another articles on the state's interventions where there is simply a civilian sphere to be removed from Polish law" - said Mr Dziambor.
Mr Szramek, Head of the Good Movement Party, besides spoke of a parliamentary interpelling made to the Minister of Justice, in which he describes, among another things, the case of Pastor Chojecki and draws attention to the request to at least mitigate any of the rules.
In a short speech after the trial, Pastor Chojecki commented:
“I will not be on the verdict. But I hope you will! [...] What the PiS prosecutors did is simply a disgrace, a crime. [...] No pastor will be able to talk freely about superstition, about ignorance, about spiritual abuse [...], due to the fact that he will know that the prosecutor [...] can do specified wickedness. That won't go back. But it can be covered in 2 ways. The first is simply a fair sentence. The second is more – we want to see free Poland! We want everyone: an atheist, a Buddhist, a Catholic, an Orthodox witness of Jehovah, a Protestant, everyone – to be able to talk freely about their beliefs so that they can besides criticize my views as they please. [...] We're going for freedom!“
"My dream and my plan is to have a social-political movement based on my trial ... for all people who realize freedom, freedom not only for themselves [...]. I think this process has triggered any kind of discord mechanics in all decent man: »I may not like what he says, I may disagree with him, possibly he overreacted or insulted me – but there is simply a word about what they did to him. on k.«It’s okay. ” – said Pastor Paweł Chojecki after leaving the court.
The closing speeches were delivered in court today. The defenders pointed to the irregularities in the legal aspects of the prosecution's operation and the court of first instance and stressed that the trial of Pastor Chojecki was a process of representing the spiritual number accused for what he preached. So it besides has the dimension of shaping how a spiritual number is treated in Poland.

Pastor of the fresh Covenant Church in Lublin and the editor-in-chief of tv Go Under Current is judged for the words given during sermons and in the programs broadcast on tv he founded. The prosecution accused him of insulting the spiritual feelings of Catholics, insulting Catholic spiritual objects, praising the initiation of an assault war against Communist North Korea and insulting the Polish Nation and the president of the Republic of Poland.
To all charges the pastor referred in a peculiar statement issued at the beginning of the trial.
The court of first instance sentenced Pastor Chojecki to 8 months of restrictions on freedom in the form of social work and ruled to pay the costs of proceedings in the amount of almost PLN 21 thousand. 4 appeals were filed for judgment. In defence of Pastor Chojecki, the appeal was made by the law firm of legal advisor Adam Wróblewski, the law firm of patron Andrzej Sawicki and the law firm of patron Andrzej Turczyn. The appeal was besides made by prosecutor Katarzyna Urban, demanding jail time.
