Publicity in medicine is necessary

I have written many times about the degree of corruption in current medicine, demanding transparency from doctors, decision-makers, and medical organizations. Despite the media's reluctance to talk about the subject, here and there are crumbs of reality. It is rather depressing. In Poland, the amounts of respective 100 million PLN annually paid by pharmaceutical companies fall into the hands of doctors and medical companies buying their favor.

For doctors, and especially luminaries of medicine, the substance has already normalized, they see nothing incorrect with the fact that the company will fund them a conference at the end of the world. They claim to believe themselves and make us believe that they have earned this money reasonably erstwhile they charge tens of thousands for a short lecture or consultation, as if the company did not have experts far superior to them and truly needed these ridiculous lectures and consultations. Sometimes they accept advanced “author” fees for text written by ghostwriters. Of course, not all doctors have that well. Only key opinion leaders are paid (key opinion leaders) who have a crucial impact on decisions taken in the healthcare system.

Those who don't believe me, due to the fact that I'm not a doctor, so I don't have the right to know, so I urge you to read a book called Killer Drugs and organised crime, that is, how pharmaceutical companies destruct wellness care, Peter Goetzsche wrote. The book published in Poland in 2015 is in continuous sales in many online bookstores. The author is simply a doctor, scientist and founder of Cochrane Collaboration and prof. of Copenhagen University. He is the author of more than 70 technological papers published in 5 leading medical journals (The Lancet, The BMJ, JAMA, Annals of interior medicine and the fresh England diary of Medicine). I have written respective times about the activities of Cochrane Collaboration and systematic reviews of clinical trials published by this organization, especially in the context of covid-1984 and masks.

In a comprehensively documented book, Peter Goetzsche presents many ways in which pharmaceutical companies corrupt politicians, state regulators, medical journals, medical societies and doctors themselves, focusing on key characters, i.e. having the top direct or indirect influence on the admission of subsequent medicines, or vaccines to use, their purchases, or promotion. It should be a compulsory reading of each next Minister of Health, so that he cannot cover himself with ignorance.

The power of multi-billion-dollar companies is so large that they are able to subject themselves to practically anything, including the media, so we seldom manage to hear about the problem, even erstwhile the caught companies are forced to pay respective 100 million penalties.

I remember a 2 or 3 years ago at TOK FM, erstwhile a caller dared to mention the criminal activity of Pfizer. Immediately the writer and the accompanying entitled doctor interrupted the statement, expressing their outrage at specified improper behavior. For a long time on the air, they beat an irresponsible listener. How can you do that!?! The wellness and safety of the patients for both masters was more crucial than the corporate image, and little that the caller cited facts, speaking of the $2.3 billion punishment for fraudulent marketing and corruption imposed on Pfizer in 2009. Then 1 of the top in history.

In general, the proceedings against the companies end with a settlement whereby the company pays compensation. Even though it's a substance of millions of people and money, we won't hear much about them in the media. The list of the largest specified settlements, which has not been updated for 10 years, is unfortunately incomplete: List of largest pharmaceutical settlements . The deficiency of updating this list is significant, seemingly the subject is presently uncomfortable and we should not ask or know besides much.

In many cases, corporate activities violate the law, so they are criminal activities where circumstantial decision-makers are liable for the crimes committed. The consequence of criminal actions is the death and failure of wellness by many people, so it would seem natural for those liable to go to prison. It is apparent to us that erstwhile the highly harmful effects of the drug are known and the CEO of the company deliberately hides them in order to save profits, he is liable personally and should endure individual consequences regardless of the penalties for the company. Similarly, the president of a bank or insurance company, who by his intentional and unlawful actions led to its collapse and bankruptcy of millions of people, or the head of a corp that poisons the resources of drinking water for the city.

This was the case in the past, but it is no longer the case, as president Ronald Reagan has changed his law in the United States. Since his change, corporate management has remained unpunished. The same president besides changed the powerfully progressive income tax, which made it not profitable to prosecute excessive individual income. Thanks to Reagan, this obstacle to the greed of the decision makers in the companies was removed. Both changes were key elements of his economical policy, so praised in Poland Reaganomiki. The deficiency of individual work and limitations of the benefits achieved creates the perfect conditions for the futile enrichment of corporate and corporate executives at all costs, but at our expense.

A way to at least partially reduce the corruptive impact of pharmaceutical companies may be to require transparency. To a certain extent, it functions in medical journals where authors of the work require a declaration of possible sources of conflict of interest, specified as disclosure of the fact of sponsorship or employment likely to affect the results or their interpretation. The strategy is imperfect, but at least it is. I believe that the work to present conflicts of interest should be extended to those in government positions and to state agencies. besides the directors of hospitals and chiefs. I wrote more about the case in respective texts, for example here:

We should know whether the vaccination zeal of the fresh Chief Sanitary Inspector Dr. n. med. Paweł Grzesiowski is purely ideological, or possibly he has a financial interest in it. late ed. Łukasz Warzecha pointed to Grzesiowski's proven acceptance of the sum of PLN 34 1000 from Pfizer and so made a motion for resignation of the head of GIS. I wonder if the thread will always appear in another media and how the ministrica of wellness master of philology Izabel Leszin will mention to this idea. He will most likely “not notice” and will feel that nothing has happened. In the meantime, you may not be sympathetic to Warzecha's editor or to his political line, but you should consider that he sometimes says something worth hearing.

The adoption by Grzesiowski of money from Pfizer and the fact that he withheld this fact at the time of acceptance of the nomination are in my opinion unquestionable and adequate reason to dismiss it. It is hard to anticipate him to be impartial and honest in his duties. It is only possible to appoint a competent individual to the vacant position, who, at the same time, would not have been impeached to take money from the companies.

These doubts are confirmed by an article published late by the portal businessinsider based on alleged transparency reports, which are forced by the regulators (this study by Pfizer revealed the case of Grzesiowski). This explains the introduction to the article I quote.

Over half a billion PLN transfers to Polish doctors and institutions connected with treatment in Poland were made by large pharmaceutical companies last year. All those who were obliged to do so have already created alleged transparency reports, including the names of doctors who did not reserve it.

532 million PLN of transfers to “R & D activities” were awarded in 2023 by pharmaceutical companies from abroad and Poland for Polish doctors, consulting companies, medical and nursing associations and foundations, according to our summary of data disclosed by 20 companies from the sector. Z about a 3rd of it went to the doctors., and this is for services, and this is to pay for usually abroad and non-profit training and symposia.

It is worth noting the passages I stressed. It follows that about 177 million PLN went straight to doctors and that only a part of these transfers were revealed due to the fact that paid may have claimed not to disclose names. We won't know, but it may be that in the case of Pfizer it was Grzesiowski's accident at work. Grzesiowski simply stared or forgot, due to the fact that the sum was tiny and did not reserve. Meanwhile, he was anonymously taking much more money from another vaccine manufacturers. Especially due to the fact that the vaccine maker AstraZeneca spent 2.5 times more on sponsorship than Pfizer, or over 100 million PLN, which may be adequate for respective doctors of medical science.

The producers of HPV vaccines present in Poland, i.e. GSK and Merck, paid little, respectively PLN 66 and 16 million, but seemingly this money has been well placed, as for any time there has been an increased propaganda force on HPV vaccines. Ministrica Leschina jumps with large impatience. I have written many times about the questionable effectiveness and the unquestionable dangers of these vaccinations. In short, there is no evidence to propose that these vaccines reduce the hazard of cervical cancer, while there is plenty of evidence of highly severe diseases caused by these vaccines. Therefore, the vaccine's hazard exceeds the hazard of the illness to be protected from. I described this in item in this text and respective more.

Finding individual to replace Grzesiowski without a conflict of interest will be difficult, as most titled physicians may have the same problem even if they do not consider it appropriate to study him. For unusual reasons, doctors working in clinics or private offices, outside public health, agreed to uncover names in the transparency reports. Most of the "honoraries" taking positions at universities, hospitals, or offices to disclose the names disagreed. I wonder if the current political formation empathizing the audience with its expected integrity, transparency and openness will be able to work on this issue. Firstly, Paweł Grzesiowski should be dismissed and, secondly, his successor should be asked to disclose any conflicts of interest.

It is clear that those appointed as managers in wellness care should be absolutely required by the right to draw up and make public their "transparency reports". Furthermore, the anticipation of concealing the names of persons receiving property benefits in the corporate reports should be excluded. Since the time of the alleged transformation in Poland, the golden calf has ruled the mystery of individual income. It results in nothing but the greater power of the employer over employees and the growth of various types of corruption. GDPR requirements have nothing to do with this. Countries like Sweden, where the GDPR is besides in force, but everyone's income is public, are rather well (the current problems of Sweden are of a different kind, caused by a crazy and irresponsible immigration policy).

The amount of PLN 177 million, which went to doctors, stimulates imagination, but we should not forget about the remaining PLN 355 million, which went to various kinds of medical organizations and societies, besides liable for actions affecting our wellness and frequently damaging it. Unfortunately, the article on the businessinsider portal is short and focuses on doctors, ignoring organizations. erstwhile I get to the first corporate transparency reports, then I will check which companies received the money and what amounts. However, I am afraid that the organizations may have so obscured everything, that we will not know what amounts were accepted by the Polish Cardiology Society for pushing all statins, the Polish Dermatological Society for scaring us with the sun or the Polish Diabetological Society for scaring us with meat and animal fats and promoting the conducive improvement of obesity and diabetes called the Healthy Nutrition Pyramid.

Each of these companies requires a separate investigation, which may be severely hampered, as it requires analysis of reports of respective companies. It's all about transparency. Take, for example, the Polish Society of Epidemiologists and Doctors of Infectious Diseases (PTEiLCZ). In early July 2024 I wrote about him:

Right is where there's large money, so I'm going to repeat erstwhile again, a law is urgently needed to force doctors to exposure conflicts of interest to full disclosure from where, for what and how much money they take. If specified conflicts had to be revealed by infirmary directors, chiefs and another medical rulers who insisted on treating patients with covid-1984 with remdesivir, many of these patients would inactive be alive. Under End of 2020 It was known that it was ineffective and had far-reaching, deadly side effects. However, at the time prof. Andrzej Horban had no uncertainty about the national consultant on infectious diseases, and he firmly stated: surely in Poland we will follow the guidelines published late by Polish Society of Epidemiologists and Doctors of Infectious Diseases. So he declared that they would usage remdesivir for the last patient.

We are going to the website of the said individual PTEiLCHZ Hopefully, we'll learn something about his funding. Meanwhile, at the outset we are greeted by a large colorful inscription:

http://www.pteilchz.org.pl/

The Polish Society of Epidemiologists and Doctors of Infectious Diseases is not a public authority or body carrying out public tasks which, in accordance with Article 4 of the Act of 6 September 2001 on access to public information, are obliged to supply public information.

It's a fig. They won't, due to the fact that they don't have to, and for any reason they don't want to. They are not a body of power reportedly, although often, as it was in cases of patients with covid-1984, they have full power of our lives and death. On the Society’s website, however, we can find or even download his recommendations for various occasions. besides those mentioned by prof. Andrzej Horban. Each paper has a very long list of authors, which perfectly serves to blur responsibility. Recommendations are not articles in a medical journal, so they do not even gotta meet minimum standards of transparency. Then there is no description of the authors' participationWhich 1 of the authors is liable for what part of the work. They will most likely answer that it is simply a collective creation, or no one. None also declarations of conflicts of interest Both the authors and the company of the company's recommendation. These are their confidential cases. We're expected to stay out of their noses and meekly submit to their healing ideas.

Do you inactive believe in discipline as we were told?

As the philosopher and satirist of the 17th and 18th centuries wrote Bernard de Mandeville in his own Bee Tales(Ul malcontent or moralized bastards):

[...]

On the wages of the humble, surviving in a loud way,

They boasted with virtue.

Because what was a stretch,

He'll call it a simple alignment.

When the trick came out, operations

They have been renumbered

In the delicate issue of profit

They were disgusted with short, strict words.

This regulation shined on everyone:

Take – not to bargain directly.

Take so much that you explain yourself

He loses his will and among the players,

Even the honest ones who win,

Sums don't uncover to partners.
