ITA Airways Gets Green Light to Join Star Alliance

ROME- ITA Airways (AZ) has received approval to begin integration into Star Alliance following a decision by the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board.

This development builds on ITA Airways’ recent induction into the Lufthansa (LH) Group and accelerates its entry into the world’s largest airline alliance. Star Alliance currently offers 17,500 daily flights to over 1,150 airports!

Integration Benefits

ITA Airways (AZ) will contribute 360 daily flights to the Star Alliance network, enhancing the alliance’s European coverage.

The most significant growth will occur in Rome (FCO) and Milan (MXP), cities currently served by 16 Star Alliance members.

The Lufthansa Group, leveraging its established position within Star Alliance, will guide ITA Airways (AZ) through the integration process.

Once ITA Airways (AZ) completes its induction, the Star Alliance network will expand to 26 member airlines. This will offer over 18,000 daily flights connecting 192 countries.

Star Alliance CEO Theo Panagiotoulias announced that ITA Airways (AZ) will likely become a full member in early 2026. He said that the decision underscores the strong confidence their members have in ITA Airways (AZ).
