In February this year, the prices of dental services increased annually by 9%. By comparison, the rate was 10.4% in the same period of 2024. That's what the CSO data says. The most popular services were taken into account, including tooth removal with anesthesia, the setting of a crown from porcelain, tooth removal or the sealing of a tooth without root treatment. The CSO takes into account price changes in private and public clinics. Additionally, the above data shows that the average household allocated 0.85% of its budget to dental services in 2025. The share of wellness expenditure is 5.82%.
According to the Central Statistical Office (GUS), in February this year the prices of dental services rdr. went up by 9%, precisely 1 year earlier – by 10.4%. In January this year, the rdr's jump was 8.6% and in the same period 2024 – 10.3%. The increase in prices of these services affected the overall increase in consumer goods and services to a comparatively tiny degree as it raised it by only 0.08 percent points in February this year. Dr n. med. Piotr Przybylski of the Implant Medical Clinic in Gniezno believes that we are again heading for a two-digit increase in the prices of dental services. In his opinion, it could happen in this six months.
– That's the kind of script I announced a fewer months ago. Prices keep going up. It is besides worth noting that the previously published CSO data indicated that the prices of dental services in the full 2024 increased by 8.9% on average compared to 2023. It can already be seen that the trend of price growth in this issue may be somewhat higher this year. Patients are anxious to look at the situation and sometimes gotta limit the scope of treatment – adds Dr N. Med. Przybylski.
A monthly survey of the prices of dental services includes the most popular services. Among them are removal of 1 tooth with anesthesia, setting a crown from porcelain, removing a toothstone or sealing 1 tooth without root treatment. The CSO takes into account price changes in private and public clinics. By month, the average number of quotations for these services is over 1200.
– erstwhile analysing the increase in prices of dental services by 9%, it is worth comparing to the increase in prices for all health-related goods and services. In February 2025 they increased much less, due to the fact that by 5.4%. A year ago, however, the increase in this area was 4.5%, which was lower, as described by Ewa Adach-Stankiewicz, manager of the Department of Trade and Services in the Central Statistical Office.
In addition, the expert estimates that in February of this year, the increase in health-related services increased the inflation rate by 0.31 percent points. In the scope of this section in February this year, most of the goods and services were little costly than dental services.
– More than dental services only infirmary services were expensive. Here prices rose by 9.4%. The medical services went up less, due to the fact that by 8.3%, and much little – pharmaceutical products and devices and therapeutic equipment. The price increases in these areas amounted to 3.6% and 1.6% respectively – says Adach-Stankiewicz.
The subject of the increase in materials prices, the disposal of medical waste, which translates into higher costs for patients, Dr. Piotr Przybylski knows from his regular work. The cost of office activities besides increases the more costly electricity and gas charges.
– It is worth noting that last year the overall increase in prices of these components was a two-digit rdr. In the first 4th of this year, small has changed. Thus, there is simply a difference between the increase in the prices of dental services and the rising costs of the above-mentioned components. This indicates that dentists abstain from compensating for expenses incurred. And if not, it would be even more costly in the cabinets than today," explains the expert at Implant Medical.
According to GUS data, the average household allocated 0.85% of its budget to dental services in 2025. The share of overall wellness expenditure was 5.82%. By comparison, in 2024 these values reached 0.57% and 5.36% respectively. Dr n. med. Piotr Przybylski does not want to draw the conclusion that this reflects a change of attitude between Poles and dentist visits.
– Poles usually do what they always do, i.e. they go to the dentist only erstwhile something disturbing begins, that is, acute pain. On the another hand, referring to this data, I think that here alternatively worked the origin of the price increase itself, which strictly affected patients. That is why this mentioned increase – explains Dr N. Med. Przybylski.
He besides considers that the consequence given by the CSO of a tiny share of expenditure on dental treatment in the general budget is illiterate, besides in the social aspect. Untreated dental diseases lead to another illness units, frequently extending beyond the jaw itself. They can besides origin cancer. According to the expert, there are 2 reasons for this.
– First of all, Poles inactive deficiency education, so they do not see the request to spend more on specified services. The second reason is that as a society we don't make adequate money to treat ourselves privately. This is rather a serious problem that dentistry has been dealing with for many years. The state has long since pushed dental services into the private sector, and this is unfortunately a large problem for patients, frequently unscathed from the financial side," concludes the expert at the Implant Medical Clinic.
