An examination of the degree of support for Israel's actions in Gaza in our country after a war crime premeditated by the Israeli army of a young Pole who devoted himself there with humanitarian aid seems to be an highly interesting issue. In the West, there was a downward trend in support for Israel in this kind of research, although any reports are powerfully censored by the media.
In France, where the largest judaic diaspora in Europe is located, support for Israel after the bloody Hamas attack in October 2023 was significant. However, at present it is besides noticeable that it is falling. IFOP has late conducted investigation commissioned by Cruf (the Council of Representatives of judaic Organizations in France), which may shed light on this issue.
The results of the survey published on Sunday, April 7 by La Tribune du Dimanche show that only 56 percent of the French inactive consider it a legitimate goal to destruct Hamas in Gaza. Earlier, after October 7, 65 percent of the respondents expressed this view.
French citizens proceed mainly to support Israel's military goal in Gaza, with 56 percent of them recognising it as legitimate. However, the media reports a gradual decline in this support, indicating the erosion of public opinion. For the most part, the conviction that both Israel and Hamas are liable for the conflict is beginning to arise. erstwhile respondents were asked who was liable for the current situation in Gaza, 59 percent replied that both sides – Israel and Hamas. Furthermore, 61 percent of the French show neither sympathy nor antipathy towards Israel.
66 percent of respondents believe that the truce between Israel and Hamas should be conditional on the release of all hostages, while 34 percent support unconditional ceasefire. In turn, 72 percent of those surveyed consider the emergence in anti-Semitism in France as a serious threat to the French religion and society as a whole. On the another hand, 28 percent believe that this phenomenon is cyclical and time-limited, thus not constituting a threat to society as a whole.
