833 Bomb Threats Since 2020
According to official data presented to the Rajya Sabha by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, at least 15 flights from various airlines have received hoax bomb threats this year alone, contributing to a total of 833 such incidents since 2020.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has implemented robust response protocols to handle such threats efficiently. These measures include coordinated actions with law enforcement agencies, central security apparatus, CISF, and other stakeholders to minimize disruption to flight operations.
A comprehensive Bomb Threat Contingency Plan (BTCP) provides detailed procedures for aviation authorities to address and neutralize such threats systematically. Additionally, BCAS regularly issues advisories to civil aviation stakeholders nationwide to maintain stringent security measures against unlawful interference with civil operations.
