Pakistan's president Asif Ali Zardari called on India to return to the "negotiation table", while ensuring that fresh Delhi and Kabul only saw a "fraction" of Islamabad's military potential.
In a Monday speech to a joint session of the Pakistan parliament, Zardari said that war is the last hotel and that it is ‘from always advocate’ peace in the region.
“For us war is always the last option” Zardari said.
‘No state accepts serial attacks on its territory...
We have allowed India and Afghanistan to see a fraction of our potential."
Pakistan and India faced a four-day military confrontation last May following a terrorist attack in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed.
Between Islamabad and Kabul there has been a periodic exchange of fire since October 2025.
Pakistan launched intense fire and raids on its western neighbour on Friday morning in consequence to the Afghan Taliban forces killing 2 soldiers while firing Pakistani border positions the day before.
Pakistan announced a triumph in a fresh clash with Afghanistan, claiming that its western neighbour had lost 1,000 fatalities in last week's escalation of the conflict.
"It was not just a military victory; it was an expression of our national determination in the crisis" Zardari said.
Pakistan's president besides pointed out that he wanted peace with India, but added:
"Make no mistake.
We're ready for you.
My message to them is to decision distant from the theatres of war for substantive negotiation, due to the fact that this is the only way to regional security...
India must perceive to us carefully:
Pakistan will proceed to give full diplomatic and moral support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir".
Pakistan claims its rights to the erstwhile principality of Jammu and Kashmir in its entirety, while administering about 30% of its surface.
About 55% are under Indian administration and the remainder is controlled by China.
