Poland is facing a wave of murderous heats that will affect much of the country in the coming days. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued an urgent second-degree informing against utmost advanced temperatures. Weather alerts include 11 voivodships, where thermometers point well above 30 degrees Celsius and locally up to 34°C. The situation is serious due to the fact that a second-degree informing means dangerous weather phenomena that may origin major material losses and pose a direct threat to wellness and life. Experts call for peculiar care and follow the recommendations to safely last the coming days.
Here comes Anticyclon Julia: What does a second-degree IMGW informing mean?
The upcoming heat wave is liable for the anticyclone Julia, which will bring to Poland a sunny and almost cloudless aura, but besides highly advanced temperatures. IMGW's second-degree informing is simply a signal that forecast weather conditions entail a serious risk. As defined, this means the anticipation of meteorological phenomena that may origin large material losses and wellness and life risks. The informing will apply from Wednesday, August 13th, from 12:00 and will last until Friday, August 15th, until 8:00 p.m. During this time, temperatures in the day can scope 34 degrees Celsius, and at night they will not fall below 19 degrees, which will hinder regeneration of the body.

Mateusz Barczyk, a meteorologist with IMGW, in an interview with Radio RMF24 reminded about basic safety principles. First of all, remember to intensive irrigation of the body – drink quite a few water, even if we do not feel thirst. Avoid being in the sun for a long time, especially during the most sunny hours (between 10:00 and 5:00 p.m.). Let's look for shadows, usage air conditioning or fans. Equally crucial is taking care of the weakest: the elderly, the sick, the tiny children and the animals who are peculiarly susceptible to heat. It is worth reducing physical activity outside and, if possible, moving it to morning or evening hours.

The upcoming long weekend promises to be highly sunny and hot, which for many means leisure and leisure. However, IMGW synoptists emphasize that despite the beautiful aura, increased caution should be exercised.
