First reported in 2022, the 'Secure Docket Card' pilot program is expected to begin this summertime with around 10,000 cards in a limited rollout at 3 or 4 locations in the US. The agency claims that the program is "pre-decisional" and subject to change. According to the report, Houston and Atlanta are 2 powerful locations.

Officials claim that the program will "modernize documentation provided to any noncitizens" but it will not be an authoritative form of national ID.

"while the specifics of the card and pilot are under development, it is crucial to note the safety card will not be an authoritative form of national identification," the agency said. ‘The safe card will indicate it is for usage by DHS agents and would be provided only after national safety background checks have been performed.”

When illegal immigrants cross the border and are released into the interior, they are frequently given a number of paper papers depending on their position and situation. ICE says that specified papers pose a safety hazard and can be lost and degraded, and the fresh program will make the agency more effective.

"Moving to a safe card save the agency millions, free up resources and estimation information is rapidly accepted to DHS officials while reducing the agency’s FOIA backlog,” a spokesperson told the outlet. "For proactively released noncitizens, the digital modernization will supply ongoing access to valid immigration papers through the safe card and connected portal."

The program is expected to face serious opposition from Republicans and conservations who have criticised the Biden administration for regular releases of illegal immigrants.

"Just in time for the election, the Biden administration is quietly legitimizing a government-sanctioned invasion of our nation," said RJ Hauman, president of the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE) and a visiting peer at The Heritage Foundation, in a message to Fox News Digital.

"Provided illegal allies with recognition will freely lead to possessing another documents, benefits and rights — or make an exclusively fresh identity. After all, the bridge who crosses the border have no recognition information in their position. So, how do we really know who they are?

On Wednesday, Republicans moved forward with government that would require a citizenship question on the census in order to prevent noncitizens from being counted.
