Pope Leon XIV expressed the readiness of the Catholic Church to set a common date for Easter for all Christian denominations. During the Saturday audience for representatives of Orthodox Churches and another non-Catholic east communities, the Pope addressed the issue of ecumenical celebration of the most crucial event in the liturgical year.
Easter together – a historical chance for Christians
In his speech Leon XIV refers to 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nice, which in 325 laid down, among others, the rules for calculating the date of Easter.
"This year, erstwhile all Christians celebrated Easter on the same day, I would like to confirm the openness of the Catholic Church to search an ecumenical solution conducive to the joint celebration of the resurrection of the Lord" said the Pope.
However, he stressed that the current differences in calendars (gregorian and Julian) prevent the simultaneous celebration of the feast, which leads to pastoral problems.
"Unfortunately, the differences in the calendars no longer let Christians to celebrate the most crucial feast in the liturgical year together, causing pastoral problems within communities, dividing families and weakening the credibility of our Gospel testimony" – he added.
Proposals for a solution and a historical journey to Nice
The Pope pointed out that there were already any proposals that would let for a joint celebration of Easter, with respect to the principles laid down at the good Council.
Leon XIV plans to visit late November 2025 Turkish Iznik – ancient Nice, where the first ecumenical council was held. It was there in 325 that Emperor Constantine gathered more than 300 bishops, who established, among others, a common method of setting the date of Easter.
The fresh Pope asks for patience
During the Audience Leon XIV, who was elected to Peter’s Capital just a period ago, apologized for being a small late.
“Please be patient with me” – said, adding that "must learn much more".
Is it possible to share the date of Easter?
The Pope's declaration opens the way to an historical agreement between the Churches. Will Christians around the planet be able to celebrate Christ’s Resurrection at the same time in the coming years?
Summary: Vatican hypocrisy and the absurd “flexible” date of Easter
Position Pope Leon XIV on the determination ‘Joint date of Easter’ for all Christians is another proof of Total separation of the Vatican from reality and actual faith. Did the Catholic Church forget that Death is simply a historical fact, not a moving holiday? erstwhile a man dies, the date of his death is constant – does not change all year depending on the calendar. Meanwhile, the Vatican, alternatively of sticking to the truth, prefers To play spiritual negotiationsAs if Christ's Resurrection were issue to be agreed between denominations.
This. pure hypocrisyOh, my God! For centuries the Catholic Church imposed its explanation of faith, and now abruptly "is open to dialogue"Because he loses his religion and influence. Is Jesus ’ death and resurrection an auction to bargain with? Or possibly the Vatican will say in a fewer years Easter will be in JulyJust to delight everyone?
What's more, The modern Easter celebration has nothing to do with the Bible’s description. alternatively of focusing on the spiritual dimension of the festival, the Church promotes pagan customs – from egg painting to madness with the Easter Bunny. This. pure sodium and gomorrah, that is simply a mixture of superstition, commerce and spiritual lie.
Do we truly request a “unified” date to believe in the Resurrection? Is religion a Question? calendar consensusNot individual conviction? Vatican one more time makes fools of people, pretending to care for unity while his actions are only A mockery of actual faith.
Conclusion:
Instead of playing Religious Politics, possibly it's time to go back to Gospel Sources and halt treating believers like Free herd, which swallows any absurd change in the name of “ecumenism”. Christ's death and resurrection are not trade negotiations – it is simply a historical fact, not a moving vacation for the convenience of the hierarchs!
