Marshal of the Sejm and candidate of the 3rd Way, Szymon Hołownia, during his run tour of Poland faced a number of uncomfortable questions regarding the situation in the coalition and its attitude towards the government. During the press conference in Ostrołęka (Mazowieckie province) there were words which encourage reflection on the future of Polish policy.

“Why do you cut off?” – hard questions from voters

During the gathering with Ostrołęka residents, 1 of the participants asked Holownia a question that raised the key problem of his political strategy. – You became a marshal due to the fact that the coalition won in the last election. You're 1 of the coalitions. I can't rather realize why you're so cut off? You say as comfortable as you are, erstwhile “yes, our government” and then you make harsh criticisms – the female argued.

She besides added that she did not realize how Hołownia intends to accomplish the highest position in Poland, as it is already at the top of the political hierarchy. – You are already at the top of the alleged first positions. And right now, you're competing within the coalition, making criticism. I, due to my aged age, want to ask you to soften your urges a little," she said.

The Holovnia replied that he wanted the coalition to talk more frequently and scope an agreement. "I dream about it," he said, while stressing that coalition cooperation is crucial to the stableness of the government.

“Who did you vote for?” – short circuit at the meeting

In consequence to a woman's question, Holovnia asked her a question: - Who did you vote for in the erstwhile elections? erstwhile she replied that to Rafał Trzaskowski, Hołownia stated: "This is the answer to the question. You're the poller of the Civic Platform.

The female denied that she was not active with any party. However, the holovnia continued, reminding that Poles chose a coalition and cooperation, and he and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish proposed that the coalition should issue a joint presidential candidate. "This proposal was rejected after 2 hours by the Civic Platform. And after 4 hours through the Left. So unfortunately we won't have a common presidential candidate," he said.

"I do not agree with Poland, which will be either PiS or PO again"

The Hołównia emphasized that it does not agree with the script in which Poles will be forced to choose between 2 extremes. – On the another hand, if present individual wants to tell me that we must be sentenced to choose between good and evil again, I want to say that there are more elections in Poland, and that 2 democratic candidates for president are possible. (...) I do not agree with you and I do not agree with Poland, in which there will be again either PiS or PO – he said.

Summary: Coalition, criticism and the future of Polish politics

The gathering in Ostrołęka showed that Simon Holovnia is facing a hard task of reconciling his function in the coalition with presidential ambitions. His answers to the voters' questions indicate his willingness to build dialogue, but besides the request to find a compromise within a hard coalition. Will he be able to convince Poles that he is simply a candidate who can unite the country? Time will tell.
