The assassination of Prime Minister Robert Fica, which took place on May 15, 2024 in the town of Handlevá, reminded us of the brutal side of politics which unfortunately is present in human history.
This event, which has shaken public opinion in Slovakia but not only forces us to reflect on aggression in political life.
Attack on Democracy
The assassination of Fica was the first case of an assassination of an incumbent prime minister in Europe since the assassination of Prime Minister Serbia Zorana Đinđicia in March 2003. In both cases, the attacks were a violent attack on democracy and peaceful governments.
