She had the chance to be normal

After winning the referendum on the appeal of Alexander Miszalski, I wrote:

"The upcoming elections will surely be an highly fertile field for commentators to analyse. Łukasz Gibala genuinely displeased and humiliated those who deprived him of his presidency in erstwhile elections, but judging from the national media run his way to a possible triumph might be even more difficult. This is an crucial argument for his candidacy, though I'm not certain he'll run in the earlier elections. With almost the full current City Council and the mentioned broad Krakow layout against each another in practice, it is an almost impossible mission. And what about the city and the cars? Here you gotta follow the rule of moderation, fair weighing of arguments to find a balance and not attach to your own successes, due to the fact that time and circumstances can make what was wise yesterday not so today, only the rules are permanent.” (Think Poland, no. 23-24, 7-14.06.2026)

And then it happened, Łukasz Gibala won a grand election for president of Krakow. He competed in them for the 4th time without organization sign and support. It is his large individual success and satisfaction, due to the fact that the scale of hostility, rudeness, vile innuendos and I apologize for the nauseating worn out word "hate" he experienced was unimaginable. As I wrote in the quoted text in erstwhile elections to fight Gibala, the ruling arrangement went to the openly gangster methods that police and prosecutors tolerated. This has been documented and described in the book of investigative journalists and what? And nothing about the government response. But this was not the catalyst for rebellion, I am writing unfortunately, due to the fact that it would indicate the maturity and sensitivity of the electorate to the abuse of law and the collapse of the state.

The drop that shed the bitterness spell alongside the primitive Mishal kind was protests against the Clean Transport Zone. It was introduced in an arrogant and extremist way, which sparked the revolt of drivers from Podkrakowskiy towns. Gibala himself did not emphasize this point at all, as first the region did not contact the inhabitants of Krakow, secondly, the restrictions on motor traffic in large cities are in themselves a most reasonable postulate, and the demands of drivers leaders did not have a chance of success in the sensible part of the electorate.

Łukasz Gibala was very right in his programme to make a tram network, which in the city the size of Krakow is the optimal solution both in terms of comfort of residents and the ratio of expenditures to effects. He carefully avoided getting into perfect disputes in which he was tried to engage, emphasized respect for conservative voters, but deficiency of interest in manifestations specified as, for example, non-respect of nationwide law in the issue of "marriage" of single-sex couples.

The triumph facilitated the mediocre quality of the counter-candidates, and especially his main rival, aggressively supported by Prime Minister Donald Tusk himself, Minister of Finance, abroad Minister, eternal president Jack Majchrowski and compromised Alexander Miszalski. Billions were promised from the city's budget on the Krakow subway, and Prime Minister Tusk suggested that in the face of the massive attacks of Russian missiles, only Mrs Piątkowska would guarantee security, due to the fact that common trust between central authorities and local government is important. The PiS candidate was even good but small known, only memes can be written about the candidates of the left, about why the mediocre consequence was noted by the candidate of the Crown Grzegorz Braun.
