Brig. Gen. Mirosław Bodnar is due to resign from the position of Inspector of the Unmanned Armed Systems at the end of September and then go to the Polish military representation at NATO and EU in Brussels. That's what Onet said. For Poland this means changing management in an area that straight determines the safety of the army.
General's departure and transfer to Brussels
Brig. Gen. Mirosław Bodnar is to direct the Inspectorate of the Unmanned Armed Systems Army only until the end of September. According to Onetu, whose findings are referred to by the WP News, the General is then to take a position in the Polish military representation at NATO and the European Union in Brussels. The media attributes the planned change in the dissatisfaction of the Ministry of Defence with the effects of his work, citing anonymous sources in the resort.
This second information needs to be made explicit. It is not the public position of the MON or the authoritative assessment of the general's service. The specified transfer to a military representation besides does not mean leaving the army. Until the ministry's communication, the liable editor may talk about media arrangements alternatively than the formally announced staff decision and its causes.
Inspectorate has been operating since January 2025
Bodnar headed the fresh structure on January 1, 2025. The appointment of the General was confirmed at the time by the spokesperson of the MON, and the Inspectorate had only just begun forming. Its task from the beginning was serious: to coordinate the improvement of military unmanned systems, their acquisition, implementation, operator training and subsequent operation.
The general presented this scope during session of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence. It is so a structure designed to bind a process that was previously dispersed between different individuals and institutions. The military is already doing concrete work. The inspectorate announces recruitments for investigating method solutions, and Polish army prepares investigating of long-range fire systems.
Drones are the core of modern security
A change in specified a position is not a specified personnel rotation. The war in Ukraine showed that reconnaissance and impact drones and their means of combat became a regular weapon of combat. Poland needs coherent command, fast testing, mass training and procurement, which besides strengthens the national defence industry.
Pressure is not theoretical. Russian drones struck close the Polish border, forcing Polish services to rise readiness. Each period of organizational slip in unmanned and anti-drone systems undermines the state's ability to defend soldiers, infrastructure and citizens.
MON should explain the change and guarantee continuity
If reports of Bodnar's departure are true, the Ministry of Defence should rapidly state the name of the successor, the time limit for taking up functions and the state of the most crucial programs. Poles do not request individual leaks with anonymous assessments. They request certainty that work is attributed and implementation of systems will not stand between 2 cabinets.
The stakes are national and very specific. The modern army cannot learn drone warfare slower than a possible opponent. Personnel can be changed if efficiency so requires, but any specified decision must service continuity of command and real capacity growth. The MON will be accounted not for the number of reorganizations, but for whether the Polish soldier will receive efficient equipment, training and cover against an unmanned threat.
