Good news for the drivers! After a long period of advanced fuel costs, prices at petrol stations began to fall. In the first week of March 2025 drivers can number on noticeable savings. But is that enough? Experts inform that fuel companies can inactive keep over-margins.

Current fuel prices at Polish stations

At the beginning of March, the prices of petrol stations in Poland were as follows:

  • Gasoline 95: PLN 6.08/litre (-3 gr compared to the erstwhile week)
  • Diesel: PLN 6.23/litre (-3 gr)
  • Autogas (LPG): 3,20 PLN/litre (-1 gr)

Despite tiny reductions, fuel marketplace analysts are informing that prices should be importantly lower, given trends in the global market.

Should fuel be cheaper? The experts have no doubt!

Specialists say that fuel prices in Poland are inactive inflated, which raises quite a few controversy. They point to the fact that wholesale prices are importantly lower, which should translate into real savings for consumers. Fuel companies inactive keep advanced margins that reflect on Poles' wallets.

Many economists believe that drivers could already pay for petrol 20-30 cents little per litreif retail margins were closer to the European average. Does that mean that gas stations are deliberately inducing prices?

What affected the fall in fuel prices?

There are 2 key factors behind the reductions:

  • Oil price undercutting in planet markets. In February 2025, Brent's oil barrel price dropped to the level $72which is the lowest value since the beginning of the year.
  • Gold reinforcement against the US dollar, which reduced the cost of importing fuels to Poland.

If these trends continue, we can anticipate further reductions in fuel stations in the coming weeks!

Forecasts: how much will the fuel cost?

Experts foretell that if the downward trend persists, prices may be as follows in the following weeks:

  • Gasoline 95: 5,85 – 5,97 PLN/litre
  • Diesel: 6,01 – 6,14 PLN/litre
  • Autogas (LPG): 3,10 – 3,17 PLN/litre

This means that petrol may shortly cost little than PLN 6 per litreWhich would be a immense breakthrough after months of advanced prices.

Do we have a longer period of inexpensive fuel?

Although the predictions are optimistic, experts are alert to early enthusiasm. Fuel prices depend on many factors, including OPEC decisions on oil extraction and the global economical situation.

There is simply a downward trend on the marketplace today, but 1 global event, specified as geopolitical tensions or a simplification in natural material supply, is adequate to make prices go up again.

Are fuel companies utilizing the situation?

There are no shortages of votes that fuel giants deliberately keep advanced prices on Polish stations, even erstwhile wholesale prices are falling. Many drivers and experts call for greater control of pricing policy to avoid excessive profit at the expense of consumers.

The government has already taken steps to regulate fuel prices, but so far no real control mechanisms have been introduced. Should the authorities intervene to make drivers pay less? That question remains open.

The fall in fuel prices is undoubtedly good news for all car users. Although the current reductions are not yet spectacular, experts forecast a further fall in prices in the coming weeks.

Will drivers truly be relieved? If fuel prices fall below PLN 6 per litre, this could mean the beginning of a longer stabilisation period in the fuel market. However, it is worth remembering that everything depends on the decisions of global players and the pricing policy of fuel companies.
