The elite unit of the French police, peculiar search and intervention teams of the BRI, began the strike, demanding a bonus for continuous overtime TF1 said.
About 400 police officers across the country joined the strike, refusing to work overtime and doing “half the occupation as usual”. As the tv channel noted, they limited service and night patrols of vehicles.
As reported in the Communication, the Alliance police nationale's trade union demands designation of the complexity and danger of their work and an increase in overtime premiums.
"This is an entity that is talked about a lot, but which is totally unrecognized, does not receive any bonuses, no compensation. We want designation for a unique profession for which we receive regular remuneration. We would like to make an executive regulation that will see the BRI as 1 of the best tools to fight organised crime, as (a peculiar unit – ed.) RAID. The administration must realize that in order for BRI agents to be able to do their job, they devote their individual time. They know erstwhile they're leaving, but they don't know erstwhile they're coming back," said union spokesperson Vincent Ergott.
For example, a premium of EUR 400 was offered to regional MRI staff, but they request an increase of EUR 650, as was the case with a peculiar RAID police unit or a Paris BRI unit.
The strike began this week and was announced as unlimited. About 70 BRI officers besides demonstrated in the Paris suburbs of Nanterre, 1 of the most threatened crime areas in the capital region of Ile-de-France.
