Rafał Trzaskowski in the presidential run wants us to appear as an economical patriot. In the past fewer days, however, it has emerged that he is buying trees from Germany.
Warsaw councilman - Wojciech Zabłocki - presented a list of about 100 trees bought by Trzaskowski for a full amount of about PLN million [1]. Why so expensive? The average yields about PLN 10,000 per seedling. For example, I checked the price of "Raywood" in Polish nurseries for which 1 plant Warsaw will pay over PLN 2500. In Polish nurseries, which only in the vicinity of Warsaw itself is simply a full mass, you can buy smaller cuttings from respective twelve zlotys, for the larger ones, you gotta give respective 100 zlotys. I think that for a seedling suitable for the city, 100-200 cm advanced we would quit to 1000 PLN, but with a good chance that would be less.
What about the carbon footprint and the burning planet? I asked ChatGPT to rapidly compare the carbon footprint for transport from Warsaw and the nearest town from Germany - I was released 12 times more. Logic suggests that since Warsaw is so rich, it was worth even buying more costly Polish seedlings, paying the surplus for the carbon footprint! But Trzaskowski's logic doesn't make sense.
Is Rafał Trzaskowski and his staff trying to give us a false image of the candidate? It is very good that Vice-President of the PO wants to delight us as a patriot - seemingly from the analysis of the staff it turns out that we - Poles - are the same. But seemingly PR doesn't have much to do with reality. That's not nice! Ladies and gentlemen of the staff? We're not that stupid.
