The Bureau of the Sejm maintained the financial penalties for 50 Members of the Law and Justice who shouted "murderer" towards Roman Gierty during the April meeting. According to Virtual Poland, appeals of parliamentarians were rejected and penalties – including reduced salaries – stay in force.
Financial penalties for PiS Members
According to the portal, PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński and Iwona Arent, considered the main initiators of the event, will lose after PLN 20 000 (their wage will be halved for 3 months). another 48 Members will lose after PLN 13,5 thousand (reduction of remuneration by half for 2 months). The full amount of penalties is close PLN 700 thousand.
– The PiS Members appealed, but we voted against any change. We reached out to the elder Convention and in the re-vote we decided to leave the penalties that were imposed said Deputy Marshal Monika Wielichowska.
A disturbance in the Sejm – how did the incidental occur?
The case concerns the events of early April, erstwhile there was a violent exchange between Jarosław Kaczyński and Roman Giertych during the meeting. The president of the Law and Justice Office accused the prosecutor of “harassing” the defendants of the Justice Fund and the death of Barbara Skrzypek. Giertycha besides called him “the sadist” and “the bully”.
When Gierty entered the platform to answer, he was surrounded by PiS MPs who chanted at his address ‘murderer’. Deputy Marshal Piotr Zgorzelski defined the situation as "Scandal and below parliamentary standards".
