In the context of Europe's changing geopolitics and security, there is more and more talk about the request to build our own defence capabilities. prof. Jacek Reginia Zacharski of the University of Łódź points out that "Americans have managed to inject any amazing doses of adrenaline combined with anabolics, which have made the EU announce the construction of its own real defence capabilities".
One of the main reasons for this change is the changing geopolitics of the world. The United States, which for a long time has been the main guarantor of Europe's security, is increasingly moving towards the Pacific. This makes Europe request to reflect on its own safety.
In this context, the European Union is becoming increasingly active in security. In 2014, at the NATO summit in Wales, it was passed that each associate state of the Alliance should spend at least 2% of its GDP on defence. However, as Prof. Zacharski points out, "Germany declares that it has exceeded 2.1% of GDP, while any analytical centres have calculated that Berlin's real budget expenditure does not exceed 1.8%, so 10 years after the adoption of commitments they are inactive not implemented".
In this situation, Poland and another European countries must consider their security. 1 solution could be to build common defence capabilities within the European Union. As Prof. Zacharski notes, “we do not have time, but the time deficit in crisis situations is standard”.
In this context, Poland should consider its safety strategy. 1 possible solution could be to build common defence capabilities within the European Union and to strengthen cooperation with another European countries specified as Sweden, Norway and Finland.
Cooperation between European countries may be key to expanding safety on the continent. As Prof. Zacharski points out, "it is not possible to see that these relations will be different." In this context, Poland should reflect on its safety strategy and strengthen cooperation with another European countries.
