Eurocommunists impose parities in stock companies

By 30 June 2026, large stock companies across the European Union will gotta increase women's participation in boards and supervisory boards. This is due to EU Directives referred to as ‘Women on Boards’ aimed at improving sex balance in the governing bodies of the largest companies. In this way, competence ceases to matter, but origin, just like in the times of PRL.

Eurocommunists impose parities in stock companies. The rules supply for 2 possible options for gathering the requirements: at least 40% of women in supervisory boards or 33% of women's participation in all managerial positions, both on boards and supervisory boards.

In Poland the regulations will cover over 1 100 companies listed on the Stock Exchange. The problem, however, is that nowadays only a tiny part of companies meet these requirements. In 2024, women made up about 13.6 percent of board members and 18.7 percent of board members, and in more than 60% of companies there was not a single female on board.

Regulatory critics stress that introducing statutory parities means interfering with the functioning of private enterprises. In the conventional marketplace economy model, owners and shareholders decide on the composition of the company's authorities, primarily based on experience, competence and candidates' results. In the meantime, the Directive introduces an additional criterion: gender.

In practice, this means that companies will request to take into account not only the qualifications of candidates, but besides the proportions imposed on top-down. For many entrepreneurs, this is an example of the increasing interventionism of EU institutions in the sphere of economy and the actual lowering of labour standards in specified teams. Consequently, the boards of companies can be built according to political and not business criteria.

Paradoxically, specified regulations will hit women mostly. If the posts are filled with a view to the implementation of the parity, there will be accusations that any of the ladies were chosen not due to competence but due to gender. This will undermine their authority, including those women who have earned their professional position in years of hard work and real achievement, not just having chromosomes XX.

In a marketplace economy, the main criterion should be competence, experience and work for the performance of the company. Companies operate under competitive conditions and any mistaken personnel decision can cost millions. Therefore, it is the owners and shareholders who should decide the composition of the company's authorities, not the Euro-communist institutions.

Interestingly, supporters of the directive argue that without State intervention, "changes are besides slow" and legislative support is needed to increase women's participation in business. This shows that it is indeed an ideological approach to the economy and society due to the fact that there is no real reason why parities should be introduced. It is pure politics and ideology; an effort to administratively control the economy, just like in russian times.

The economy should be primarily about competence, experience and work for the performance of the company. If we start replacing these criteria with political parities, we are entering the road on which the composition of company boards will be decided by officials and ideological objectives of Brussels, alternatively than the real needs of the market. The consequence of specified measures will, of course, be the decline in the quality of services and the economical crisis, typical of centrally controlled economies. Let us not imagine that Eurocommunists will halt on parities. It's just 1 of the many steps they're planning.
