The European Parliament (PE) voted on 26.03.2024 on fresh regulations imposing fresh energy efficiency requirements for buildings (EPBD). In short, all buildings within the European Union will gotta accomplish zero emissions. This means renovations and immense costs. A mistake is besides made by those who believe that these regulations do not apply to dwellings in blocks. New regulations on the energy efficiency of buildings will have a crucial impact on the future of heating houses and apartments in Poland and throughout the European Union. As of 2030, all recently built residential building will gotta meet zero emanation standards, a clear signal of a change in the approach to energy and environmental protection. Even more restrictive requirements will include existing buildings by 2050, with immense financial challenges for property owners and managers.

Switching to non-emitting heating, according to EU directives, means abandoning fossil fuel-fired boilers, including popular gas boilers in Poland. As a result, investments in heat pumps and heating systems utilizing renewable energy sources become not only beneficial to the environment, but besides mandatory according to legal regulations. Although it will inactive be possible to usage biofuels-fuelled gas boilers, specified as biomethane or biopropane, and hybrid systems, financial support for fossil fuel boiler installations will end as early as 2025.
