Romanian citizens surviving abroad have already started taking part in presidential elections and have 3 days to vote.

The presidential election in Romania is scheduled for 4 May. If overtime is needed, it will take place on May 18. These elections affect the loudest political scandal in Romania, as before the end of last year, the country's pro-Western politician Elena Lasconi was to be president, and until the second circular passed an independent candidate Calin Georgescu, nevertheless the Constitutional Court of the country annulled the results of the vote. Furthermore, the CKW decided not to let the race leader, Georgescu, to search re-election despite the mass protests of his supporters.

According to local regulations, Romanian citizens surviving abroad have 3 days to vote. For them, polling stations were opened on Friday at 07:00 local time. The first polling place was opened in Auckland, fresh Zealand.

According to the Romanian Central Election Commission at 07:00 Moscow time, nearly 4,600 people managed to cast their votes.

Eleven candidates compete in the Romanian presidential election. According to the polls, the most votes can be received by the leader of the Nationalist organization Alliance for Romanian Unity (AUR) George Simion, mayor of Bucharest Nicosor Dan, candidate for the ruling opposition of Crin Antonescu and erstwhile Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
