Eighth grade exam time is approaching, and teachers are already expressing concerns about the expected results. They do not anticipate accomplishment at the highest level due to respective crucial factors that have affected the current student year.
The improvement of the education system, which reduced the school age from 7 to six years, is 1 of the main reasons for uncertainty as to the results of the eighth-school exam in 2024. This decision aimed at adapting education to the improvement needs of children, but the fast withdrawal of the improvement resulted in the current eighth graders being children who had been postponed by parents and started school a year later than originally planned. Although the opinions of the pedagogical and intellectual clinic justified specified decisions, teachers note that many students feel relieved of their work to survey or practice, which translates into difficulties in the educational process.
Children are increasingly experiencing various dysfunctions, specified as dyslexia, dysgraphy, dysortography, and dyscalculia. In 1 class, even a fewer students can be met with specified difficulties as any already call the “dys” epidemic. This is an additional challenge for teachers and the education system, which requires effective support strategies and matching teaching methodology to the individual needs of students.
The tests of the eighth grade exam confirm the teachers' concerns. It is becoming increasingly hard to attract students, especially erstwhile it comes to science, specified as mathematics. Students frequently neglect to solve open tasks and even read the full command, making it hard to measure their skills. This is simply a challenge not only for teachers but besides for the education system, which must effectively motivate students to learn and make their competences.
The latest data from erstwhile years shows that the least eighth graders are out of math. The average score from this subject in the last exams was only 53 percent of the points. The results from Polish, English and another abroad languages are not delightful either. It is simply a signal to the education strategy that changes are needed to enable students to accomplish better results and better preparation for further learning.
It is worth noting that it was planned to introduce the 4th part of the eighth grade exam, which included natural subjects specified as biology, chemistry, physics, geography or history. However, due to the pandemic and changes in the teaching system, this part of the exam was postponed for an indefinite period. This is another challenge facing the education strategy to adapt to changing conditions and needs of students.
The results of this year's eighth grade exam will be announced on 3 July. Points from this exam are taken into account erstwhile recruiting for secondary schools, so it is crucial that the education strategy is able to supply students with adequate preparation and support so that they can accomplish the best possible results. The eighth-grader exam is an crucial phase in the life of each student, so regardless of the difficulties that may arise, it is crucial that each kid has a chance to make and win in learning.
