In the Lake Tank, the largest watershed in the region, there was a mass sleep of fish. Hundreds of dead carps, amurs, and pikes float along the shores, and there is simply a fetor floating above the water that disturbs residents and fishermen. What is the origin of this disaster, and who is liable for it?
Dead fish and horrible stench – residents are alarming
As reported by the portal Sit down Our CityThe situation in the Lake Tank is dramatic.
– Hundreds of large fish swim at the banks – these are mainly carps of seven, 8 kilos, but besides amurs, pikes. What is more, their numbers are growing, and a immense stench is rising above the water – reports 1 of the fishermen.
Although akin phenomena have occurred before, the current scale is unprecedented. The fishermen and local residents fear an epidemiological threat.
Politicians exchange accusations
Marek Grobarczyk, erstwhile Minister of Maritime Affairs and IWT, commented:
“For respective months now, fish have died on another watershed. That is hundreds of tons!!! Where are these hypocrites Paulina Henning-Kloska and Urszula Zielińska? But Holownia Germany said it was mercury!” – he wrote on the X portal.
Drought, cormorants, or gold algae?
Piotr Jóźwiak of the Polish Waters explains that the region of Sieradzki of the Polish Fishing Union, which is the tenant, is liable for the fishing economy in the reservoir.
In turn Marcin Janiak, the mayor of the municipality of Pęczniev, points to another reasons:
– The main reason for the mass snorkeling of fish is their weakness after spawning and cormorants attacks, as well as the fact that the reservoir is about a metre of water little than usual. all year the problem returns, but not on specified a scale – says the mayor.
It's worth reminding you that 3 years ago Gold algae led to an environmental disaster in Oder. Last year their presence was again recorded in Polish waters, as confirmed by the Ministry of Climate and Environment.
Is the current situation in Lakes related to this toxic species? Is drought and negligence in water management to blame? There are inactive no answers to these questions.
