Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that he would shortly ask the Sejm to express a vote of assurance for his government. In his speech after the losing presidential election by Rafał Trzaskowski, he assured that he did not intend to slow down pace in the implementation of government plans.
“I will not halt for a moment” – Prime Minister’s declaration
On Monday, Tusk thanked the voters for their vote and congratulated the winner, while stressing that the election consequence would not affect the determination of his government.
– As if we were not judging the winning candidate, we should admit his win and congratulate his voters. I want to declare that I will not halt for a minute in the fight and work for Poland that we dreamed of. The election didn't change anything here, and it won't change anything. said the head of government.
Co-habitation with the fresh president – Emergency Plan Ready
Tusk announced his willingness to work with the fresh president, but noted that the government was prepared for hard scenarios.
– We will work with the fresh president wherever essential and possible. The contingency plan for hard co-habitation is ready. If the fresh president shows a willingness to cooperate, it will be a affirmative surprise. If not, there's nothing to wait for, we'll decision on. said the Prime Minister.
Vot of Trust – First Test for Coalition
One of the key points of the speech was the announcement of the motion for a vote of confidence. Tusk emphasized that the government faces many challenges and the unity of the coalition will be crucial.
– There's besides much to do. Starting with global affairs, building the economy, accounting and fighting crime. Our plan will require unity and courage from the full Coalition on October 15. The first test will be a vote of confidence, which I will address to the Sejm shortly. – announced.
What is the vote of assurance procedure?
In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Sejm, the Prime Minister's request for a vote of assurance shall be considered at the next sitting. The debate is limited to questions from Members and answers from the head of government. A vote shall be given if a majority of Members are in favour of the presence of at least half of the statutory number of parliamentarians.
– The Sejm shall vote by a majority vote of assurance to the Council of Ministers in the presence of at least half of the statutory number of Members. The Prime Minister admitted that the political situation may be more hard than expected, but assured that it would not affect his determination.
