US president Donald Trump said on Monday that he did not plan to reduce US forces in Europe. He besides assessed that he had large relations with Europe, although he warned that it had to be careful, due to the fact that the continent is "unrecognizable" due to migration.
Trump was asked erstwhile talking to journalists in the Oval Office whether he was planning to reduce US forces in Europe.
– No, I have a large relation with Europe – Trump replied, adding that after he came to power the U.S. armed forces evidence recruiting records.
Similarly, the president replied to the question of the Pentagon's National defence Strategy, which announced a simplification in US support for Europe's defence.
– I get along very well with Europe. I increased them (defensive expenses) from 2 to 5 percent. (...) They give us quite a few that money, we have the best military equipment, we sale it to NATO – Trump said. However, he warned that "Europe must be careful, due to the fact that there are those who say that Europe is beyond recognition". He added that there are 2 reasons: migration and renewable energy.
Trump's words are already another of his announcements to leave the number of US troops on the continent at the current level, despite announcements of a simplification in American engagement in Europe, among others, by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth or Secretary of State Mark Rubio. The movements in this direction are besides indicated by the White House's National safety strategy and the National Pentagon defence Strategy. Despite Trump's words, an American infantry brigade was withdrawn from Romania in October, which was stationed rotationally there.
This movement was criticized, among others, by Republicans in Congress. In December, however, legislature passed a defensive spending plan, in which it contained regulations that hindered the Pentagon's extremist simplification of troops in Europe.
